Gorgeous vintage motocross racing bike. At that current time, this bike was the epitome of motocross.

What an iconic MX bike. When that bike was released it was way ahead of the pack, classic color.

78 YZ80 was my 1st motocross bike. We had those Honda Trail 70 to learn on. Then I graduated to (3) 82 YZ80J’s for racing. 1 was stock & the other 2 were race bikes. Wish I still had one of them. I keep hoping you bring in one of those, you were close a couple weeks ago with a huge haul, but the one you mentioned unloading them that you thought it may be an 82, wasn’t. In 82 the YZ80 was the 1st yr liquid cooled for them & the radiator was behind the front # plate. I can’t believe I’d ever get to correct the King of Motorcycle’s “Kaplan America”...That will forever be my claim to fame. 😂😂✌️ EDIT: I love how the CC says “Music” when the bike is running. It sure is music!

..saw the rear height and frame cut (i am not special). You called it out. Kaplan wins all day with transparency. We wish there a lot more people doing things right. :)

Was a massive Hannah fan back in the late 70s. Unfortunately being in the U.K. and fairly penniless I never got to see him ride. But love the look of the YZeds.

Loved when those YZ got the aluminum swing arms. My first National I went to was Pine Top in RI. Yes we had a National MX in Rhode in 78. Sadly only one. Can still smell the race gas and bean oil.

That 78 Yamaha looks better then the rest of Hondas Kawasakis or Susukis in that year most of the later 70s Yamaha's were nicer looking I think I dont why you wouldn't want to restore that Yami o bet if that was a Honda you would when the fact is that Yamaha is a nicer looking bike and a better bike

Beautiful bike, unfortunately, me thinks porting is the issue of it running underpowered and flat.
