So many people on the 2018 videos commenting about how amazed they are by the destruction, but locals know it will happen again, and again, just not knowing where & when. Beautiful descruction.

oh yea, it's pretty easy to predict where, just not when. Zone 1? hello? lol I remember 17 years ago standing in a friend yard welding my truck, om Maile St. in LE. And watching steam waif up from some A'a formation pukas. I tell him, hey, you know this is connected to the system? Directly. Someday it's going to follow the steam and come back this way. Someday LE.

truthseekers living on the mainland, having never had the opportunity to visit Hawaii it is like watching a slow-motion trainwreck, beautiful destruction. I'm sorry that you have to live it.

don't be sorry for me, it's WHY I live here. I know the island and the volcano. It's doing nothing to me. This has been going on for 35 years. It's on 1% of a 4000 sq. mile island. About the size of Connecticut. These people picked their spot wrong. ZONE 1! This is paradise, that includes Genesis, daily. EVERYTHING grows here including the island. Please, don't be sorry for me. I'm sorry you've never got to experience heaven on earth. Which this is.

I think us people who can’t go to Hawaii now are so amazed because although it might be what Hawaiians live with and expect, we have never seen anything like this. It’s all new to us because of newer technology so it’s like seeing a volcanoes close up for the first time. It’s beautiful to see it’s a shame it’s so destructive at the same time. I’m glad people seem to safe tho.

I first came here in my teens, then yearly for a couple decades. No question it's the best of all the places I've traveled to. The volcano is nothing.

Unfortunately, 2018 lava flow from fissure 18 is approaching parts of Kapoho that were left untouched by the 1960 flow

truthseekers Some residents at Kapoho and Vacationland grumble about people parking on the roadside and using easements to go to the beach. And got the people who leave rubbish all over. Pele taking it away again. She had to remind us who really is in charge 🤙🏽🌋

You gotta love volcanos to live in Hawaii because your going to get lots of experience with them over the years and don't let it bother you if you loose your home because that's just Pele

Just substitute the word lava for Pele and you may be a little closer to understanding. For some people Pele is real. for others, it's symbolic. For others, it's an idea of a spirit- a cause that justifies the loss. But one way or another when you lose your lifelong home to a disaster you too might try to find a meaning behind it, and we can see what you come up with.
