I came to Phoenix Cycleworks a couple of weeks ago and wanted to make a start on the new line they have just built. However, I couldn't believe just how big the features were. So I am back to try and make a start on this line, my aim was to tick off the first 2 features however it proved to be more difficult than I thought. I manage the step down but I will be back next week for the kicker ramp!
Hope you enjoyed the video!
Kara :)

That was a big effort Kara. You're going to be fine next time. No need to rush the scary stuff. You're clearing some pretty impressive jumps. Just follow Tom's advice and keep practising and it will all come together.

What i see is you conquering one obstacle and then the next gets in your head. That's cool. You conquered an obstacle this day! You clearly realized it was only monumental in your head and proceeded to rock said obstacle. And you'll do the same with the kicker. And the next jump and the following and so on. You do you at your pace and we'll be here to encourage you. Because we ALL go through the same thing. Or we don't and wish we could. As for any comments, you do what YOU want to do and progress your way and you will always have support.

It's so cool to see your progression! It's crazy how mental this all is. I've been really struggling with a gap that I know I can clear easily but just the fact it's a gap has me freaking out.

Right decision in the end. Even when you know you can do it. Sometimes its better to come back and not rush things. Great video. Best duo in MTB💯

Great riding. That fear / desire to do a new bigger feature is what most of us can totally relate to. Great video.

Don’t be hard on yourself that step down was big and an impressive feat, look how much this year you’ve come on!! I genuinely think you got that jump for the record, only you will know when the right time to try it is. 💪🏻 stay strong keep progressing and smiling, Tom seems like a absolute legend as well as a excellent coach who knows your ability, he hasn’t done you wrong yet 😇

Tom having through all those worst case scenario's, I bet his lawyer wants to sue you Kara xD A kicker like that always looks so insane when you stand next to them. However they give you such a smooth takeoff you don't have to worry if you get the run in correct. You'll get that one next time I am sure!

Nice job making a start on that line, it's pretty big. I just hope you remember that riding is supposed to be fun! I'd never spend a whole day staring at a feature like that, but fair enough if that's what works for you.

To be honest Kara, dirt jumping is not mountain biking, it's just a small aspect of the sport. Many mountain bikers love to jump, but it's a small segment of riders that 'only' dirt jump. It's too bad that Tom seems to be your only influence as you are missing out on what most mountain bikers love.... the adventure, the exploring, new trails/locations, nature and yes, the downhill! I've always supported your channel because it's been fun to watch your progression, but dirt jumping is somewhat repetitive. I really enjoyed when you were exploring natural trails and hitting the downhill runs. You are really skilled there and I was personally excited to see you progress in this area more than anything!! Working on going bigger and longer has it's merits, but you're missing out on so much more and honestly, so are we 🙂

@@LKnight32 There's nothing toxic about my comment. And that's my point, she's NOT riding what she wants to. It has zero to do with me not being happy for her, as I've said that I am and everything to do with so many lady riders being pushed a certain direction because of their significant others. I know because I've been a certified instructor since 2010 and have seen so many new women riders being discouraged in this manner. Do you think she'd be going so hard on the dirt jumps without Tom or her you tube channel pushing/driving her? Cmon, she's not a passionate dirt jumper. Tom is.

Kara - you need to loosen up. You are way too stiff on the bike, almost like dead sailor. Try mastering and getting more confident on the smaller jumps before hitting the big ones. No offence, but at the minute you are just a passenger in the air nothing more. It's almost uncomfortable to watch you. You need to be able to walk before you can run is a good example. You haven't even mastered the smaller jumps, you should forget about trying to clear bigger and longer jumps/caps and focus on your actual jumping skills. Because they are lacking big time.
@alterbridge70
@alterbridge70 Ай бұрын
Completely agree ,makes me uncomfortable watching these jumps outside her skillset.. unfortunately only a matter of time before the luck runs out and that casing turns into a proper off... It's one thing giving someone a push to progress but surely he can see she's stiff as a board in the air ??
@o.zzzzzz
@o.zzzzzz Ай бұрын
@@alterbridge70 yep. Stiff as a stick. How can Tom not see it is beyond me. She only relies on speed and pretty much dead sailors all the jumps and gaps.
