You are my Agile Soul Sister! I have been training our team on Agile user stories which has been very hard for the team to grasp and your process is exactly the way I draft my requirements in Jira so I am sending them your channel to get some additional training! I'm also very happy to see a woman of color in this role who knows her stuff so THANK YOU!

Hello Karaleise, Thanks for your contents, they are very enlightening. My question is: Why don't you write your acceptance criteria using Gherkin? I was under the impression Gherkin should always be used. I'll appreciate your response.
@swatihd3885
@swatihd3885 8 ай бұрын
I have been told to write acceptance criteria as format Given- predefined context When- Our actions Then - systems response And- connecting two sentences Which way we should follow?
@karaleise
@karaleise 8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. That style of writing the acceptance criteria is called Gherkin format and its the way a lot of people want to tell you to write user stories. The truth is in agile we have no formula and you do not "have to" write your acceptance criteria in that format all the time. There are good reasons to use it in certain sceanrios and other times when its not the most efficient approach. If you want to learn more about writing acceptance criteria in Gherkin format, please watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rX-8nZWGisuog9k

really appreciate your efforts . Can you please describe the meaning of "Mockup" mentioned in the user story?
@karaleise
@karaleise 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Injila, thanks for watching the video. Mockup means a web design that is static. Its purpose is to show what the final screen will look like when its built. Mockups are not functional they are usually just pictures that closely model the screen). Gor more on mockups check out my website www.karaleise.com. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for this presentation Karaleise! How about writing the AC in Gherkin Syntax format (Given, When, Then)? I think yours were written in TDD right?
@karaleise
@karaleise 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching Raji, writing in gherkin format is not much different. You can transcribe the TDD in this video to gherkin easily. For example: "Given that I am on the board home page, when I click on Add Workspace option, then I will see a screen that shows...." Dont get stuck on text book terminology. Gherkin format is scenario based and doesnt fit all types of projects. Plus it is very lengthy unnecessarily. Use your analytical skills to know which format fits best to your project. It doesnt matter if its Test Driven Development, Gherkin or a custom format, what matters is if your acceptance criteria communicates exactly what dev needs to build and QA needs to test for. Hope that helps. Check out my article on writing user stories here: karaleise.com/what-makes-a-good-user-story/

Nice information. ❤How often should BA communicate with Dev and QA?
@karaleise
@karaleise 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bpearl, thanks for watching. You should be in constant communication with Dev abd QA especially if you work in agile. Join the standups everyday and be there to clarify any questions. If you work in waterfall, find a way to check-in with dev and QA at least weekly.

Hello Karaliese, I just discovered your channel and I've been watching your videos since then. You present BA in a way many other creators don't. I'm starting my Computer Information Systems diploma and still trying to figure out career prospects. So, I'm a little lost here, can you please explain what Agail and Waterfall Culture is? How can I learn them? Thank you for Informative videos.

@karaleise
@karaleise Жыл бұрын
Hi Vivian, often the mock-up is designed by the UX designer but if you don’t have a UX designer on your team, the BA can do a wireframe to help the team visualize what to build. Find out more on Karaleise.com

The video is super helpful but can you please reduce the number of ADs in the video... I had more than 20Ads in just a span of 40 mins.. 😅
@karaleise
@karaleise 2 жыл бұрын
So thanks for the feedback. The ads are placed automatically by KZbin but I took a look when I read your comment -and whoa!!! This video certainly had a lot! Although this is the way I monetize my channel so I have to show ads you understand that right? But you are correct that for some reason KZbin went a little too far with this video and I too think there were too many ads. I manually removed some of the ad breaks. Feel free to re-watch haha!!

Hello Karaleise, thanks for this thorough presentation and explanation. With the presentation you did, does that mean that a wireframe/mockup has to be created before creating user stories since the mockups are added to the user stories to give more clarification to the developers and QA.
@karaleise
@karaleise 2 жыл бұрын
HI Oluwatobi, thanks for watching and supporting my channel. You can technically create a user story at any time but it would not be in DoR ( definition of ready) until it has been refined and estimated and that usually requires having the accompanying mockups. Usually only then do we add it to the sprint.
