The son needs therapy. He’s traumatized and seems to have a lot of anxiety around abandonment from his parents. His feelings are valid and understandable. However this is likely C-PTSD. It can’t be resolved over the timeframe of a talk show. He wants his father to “ unbreak his heart “. That’s not going to happen. He needs to heal himself with therapy. EMDR might be extremely helpful for him.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this. Now I know this a short show and we don’t get to see the full break down of dynamic between Father/Son; but I some what feel the son is being manipulative towards the Dad and using the fact that the Father was away during childhood as a means to “get his way” and to ensure the Father has him added into his will/insurance policy. Trying to make the Dad feel guilty and shameful is manipulation and make him feel he owes you the world even tho you have to share him with other siblings. I know the Dad made poor choices as a teen having these kids at a young age but it doesn’t make him a bad person. Also Karamo stated as a Dad he should walk away when the Son is ready to go there with arguments when in reality the Son need to walk away and seek supportive help at age 34. The Son couldn’t anwser straight forward questions bc he is use to shutting down and crying so everyone feel sorry for him so he gets his way! The Father see the act the son puts on and doesn’t fold to his demands😂Lol. Either way I wish both well and hope it’s healing in the future for them

As an adult it is up to you to heal. This man is in his 30s behaving like this with the disrespect and sassy spicy attitude towards his father. Adults are resourceful, accountable and understanding the things/people they cannot change. The son should have contacted a family therapist for himself and his dad instead of a talk show, knowing the kind of healing he needs requires a deeper analysis. He brought his father all the way on tv to take an unnecessary DNA test…

Sometimes cutting off other people even if it's family, it's for a greater good. So much rooted pain in the son's voice. His mental health comes first, and if he feels cutting his dad off his life is for a greater good, let him be. And no one shouldn't judge him for his decision. This goes deep and alot can be discovered on why the father treated him the way he did.

How does a child who grew up without a father and mother present be spoiled? Hurt, abandoned children, grow into hurt adults with abandonment issues. But sometimes that can translate to fear of the kid. Not understanding the parent life. My father was stern until I told him I need more love and not as much discipline. I’m Trippin… cause I literally remember Horace having his babies with him. When the son says that his father was always gone… He was gone right down the street which was in church. His father was at every choir rehearsal on Tuesday at 6 pm and Saturday mornings at 10 AM. He was in church on Sundays and walked straight home, right after. When we traveled, we never stayed more than 24 hours. Horace was a good guy and still is. He loved his children. Like I told one of the others in the comments he was hustling, doing the best he could without too many male figures in his life. …And not only was he an amazing dancer, but also a great singer. The Son is dealing with pain that has nothing to do with his dad. And I’m going to leave that right there cause…. CAUSE

I think there is more going on with this kid than his father not being there. I see a father willing to try and all he kept saying was I'm done, I'm blocking him, he doesn't love me blah blah, and all that emotion may be coming from a deeper place. I would recommend he start by getting his hormone levels checked and screened for depression. I respectfully disagree that his father needs to walk away during arguments because if he does, his son will still have problem with that and process it as him not listening to him or acknowledging his feelings

Anyone can have a baby but it takes a real strong man to be a father. And kids resent a parent that's not actively interacting with them as little children. And hold them accountable for not being there in person. Being a father is the emotional interaction between the two of them not just a simple title. The son is saying that you can't tell him what to do because he's now an adult and their was never a bond built as a toddler on up.

So I have read the comments and many say that the “father did the best he could” but your best isn’t good enough if the child is saying I have a void. As a parent I demand respect, BUT let’s not forget that parents are not to provoke their children. Ricardo is hurting and although he is in his 30s he is stuck in the pain of that child. The father is saying he stepped up, but if your son is hurting you need to keep stepping up. You don’t stop being a parent because your child makes mistakes, you continue to love them and pray for them and wait for them to make the necessary changes. I pray for both the father and son. No judgement here because no one really knows what is going on, only what you think or what you observed. I pray this young man gets the help and acceptance he needs. I hope he finds the love he seeks and that he will love himself.

I was confused but think I understand. Trying to be vulnerable to a person he’s only wanted love and acceptance from is tough. So I can understand the son’s behavior resorting to what he knows or/and removing himself for protection. Whether dad deserves it or not (not important), I hope the son can forgive his dad. Forgiveness is not for the other person but yourself, and only for yourself. It didn’t seem like the son was there yet (no shade), and the dad saying the goofy things he said definitely didn’t help. But for the sons sanity I really hope he’s able to forgive sometime down the road and can move about the world freely, with or without his father. Forgiveness is like taking bricks out of your backpack - the bricks being the weight of what happened & pent up emotions. Like forgiveness, releasing those bricks is literally releasing what happened to you and declaring you’re no longer carrying that. You didn’t deserve those bricks and they were never yours to carry in the first place. Prayers for his healing.

I agree with you 💯 %. Other commenters thinks the son is being manipulative etc but I see the opposite. He was neglected for so long it’s hard for him to express how he feels. I know this from my own experience. I myself think that whenever I speak of past issues or bodily issues people may receive it as me complaining or not getting over it. I was never the type growing up to speak up for myself and I think that this young man was like that as well. It’s easier to shut down and cut people off but I’ve learned there’s a healthy way to go about it. Instead of shutting down heal from the resentment, hatred, and disdain you have for that person then cut them off(if need be).

I'm surprised so many ppl are taking the dads side. I feel like there's soooooo many layers to the breakdown between them 2. Abandonment, immaturity (dads side), losing grandma, not having mom around, queerness, +more y'all have to realize even tho dad was young he had a responsibility to his kids and by the sons reaction to him you can tell he dropped the ball. Even dads first statement when he came out about the son being in facilities and how he couldn't be there for him that's just 1 of probably tons of times dad could've did more & didn't . I hope they find healing but I feel for the son!

Agreed at the same time he’s 36 he needs help and to work through the trauma otherwise this is going to follow him into his future relationships.
