In the mid 1960s I was in a typhoon near Taiwan on a WW2 LST (Landing Ship, Tank). We barely made it through with water falling into our berthing compartments through cracks in the amidships main deck. We were headed to Sasebo, Japan for yard work and ended up in dry dock when fish were discovered swimming in a ballast tank. On a small ship of 326 feet length and 50 foot beam, teetering on the crest of 15 to18 meter waves, crashing down and sliding down into the trough only to be flung up to the next crest to teeter again was an experience I could only appreciate in my youth, I've experienced some wild rides on a more seaworthy ship, but that couple of days "took the cake". Also, some of the calmest, glass smooth seas I've ever experienced were on the South China Sea. I greatly enjoy your channel, thank you for your effort and keep up the good work.

Wow thank you so much Mark first of all for sharing this. I can only imagine what kind of a nightmare this might have been. And you are absolutely right about the mirror like part on the south china sea.

Please make a video about your experience when you boarded and started sailing for the very 1st time in your career. Like when you enter the accommodation for the firsttime , when you first saw your ships bridge, about when you first experienced the shift in cold weather and hot weather in just a span of few days. I know you must have lot of stories about those experiences. We all would love to hear all those stories.

Another majestic video dear Karanvir! I Love, love, love the fact you educate us all on nature, navigation and nautical life. Adding the inspirational words of Einstein is another creative detail, making each video stand out from "the crowd" on YT😍🌟❣ Interesting to witness there are windfarms close to Taiwanese coast too, and what a challenge it is to keep safely navigating out there knowing all the fishing boats are sheltering from the storm. One request: can I "order" one of those authentic Maersk blue painted, custommade deckseats/bench placed outside on bridgedeck?!😉😍💙 Namaste☸🙋🏼♀️🧡

Hi Belinda. As always great to read your comment here ❤️ And yes the wind farms are there in Taiwan but not as attractive as the ones outside Rotterdam 😀. Haha these chairs on the bridge wing are truly a delight to sit and take in some sunshine from.
