Aileron shaped hydrofoils can increase the ship control, and also in emergency braking and in high traffic if they are fixed to be opened into the submarine sideways water flow. They are currently absent in all ships but they can enable a very high level precision control of ships at all times. They can be used to very quickly bring the speed down, instead of a full helm turn. You should suggest the concept to your captain and also to your shipping company and let them know about it too.

Hey Karan - I have worked in exports for more than a decade and I used to keep shouting at all the shipping lines and their agents for my material, however, i must say this is the other side of the coin and i admit its not an easy life.
