I think in cultural aspect, this is Chineses and Japaneses acknowledged in US that they're somewhat brothers afterall. Karate is Japanese and Kung fu is Chinese. Bruce Lee made Kung fu famous in the west and Karate kid made Karate famous in the west. Both are East Asians. I'm East Asian btw.

Pretty sure Chuck Norris made Karate famous in the West by being a World Karate champion in the late ‘60s and then he was brought to the forefront thanks to Bruce Lee putting him in The Way of the Dragon in the early 70’s. Bruce Lee’s films led to a Martial Arts explosion in the 70’s and then Ninja movies in the 80’s, Karate Kid was just capitalizing on the craze.

What I really liked about the Jackie Chan Karate Kid movie was that it was a surprisingly good reimagining, not just a carbon copy remake with him as Miyagi, thus allowing for this very interesting crossover. I’m all in.

Great trailer. Thank god they are treating it with sincerity. As much as cobra kai was fun in the beginning it slowly just got worse and worse. The bits of action scenes here got me excited for it already. Jackie chan seems to make anyone look good doing action when he and his team are involved

Actually you are not really wrong or right. The term Karate means Empty Hand....Many persons dont realize all fighting arts is the way of the Empty hand being it was used originally for defense without weapons . All fighting arts technically is the way of the Empty Hand. In regards to your Restaurant gig. Due to the Japanese invasion of Korea....you do have a Korean version of Karate named Tang Soo Do...which is much different from Ta kwon do.

It's about honoring and respecting said cultures not lazily trying to generalizing them. Seriously though go up to a martial artist practicing jujitsu and tell him he's just wrestling, and watch how pissed off and insulted he'll get.

I like it. It’s a very well put together trailer. I have heard online that the creators behind Cobra Kai were in talks with Jackie Chan to include the 2010 Karate Kid movie. I liked the 2010 Karate Kid even though it wasn’t really about karate but Kung fu. I thought Jayden Smith was fine but I think Jackie Chan was the high light of that film. I know a lot of people hate Jayden Smith and say he’s a terrible actor. I’m really happy that they did something fresh with the kid in this trailer that Han is trying to mentor. It would be so easy to mess this movie up by putting to many characters from the Karate Kid movies and Cobra Kai. I’m glad to only see Ralph Macchio. It looks like one of those mentor movies that will combine both styles of martial arts with a simple story about bullying. Those stories never get old. I always like those movies of the underdog. This will definitely please Chinese audiences and Japanese alike with American I think this movie will do well in these markets. If it’s done well. I’ve seen so many trailers that were great and then I go see the movie and it is just bad . That’s why I’ve grown accustomed to teasers and bad trailers but lately it’s been a mixed bag with Hollywood so I guess we’ll wait and see.

Cinematically it looks a lot Iike the remake but looks like the close up shaky cam has gone though hope we get see Daniel San doing some classic Jackie chan slapstick fighting We see a bit with the kid climbing the wall , that’s very Jackie I’ve known that Jackie and Ralph where doing a movie for a while always hoped it would be something like this Pleasantly excited for this I enjoyed most of Cobra Kai so this is another treat

This looks so good as a huge fan of the 2010 karate kid as its the one I grew up on which I think is hugely underrated and also big fan of original espcially with cobra kai this trailer is so good connecting both franchises together by making the 2010 one canon to the orginal this feel like the avengers endgame of karate kid franchise I can't wait the new protagonist is going to mix both karate and kung fu creating a new fightinh style using both is such an awesome idea for a karate movie and having both jackie and Ralph together is soo good can't wait
