You can literally take a look at qiu's legs it looks like it's being sun burned it's all because of akimoto's powerful low kicks that he learned from kyokushin karate. And because of akimoto's low kicks that is powerful, it increased the scores on akimoto from the judges and that is the most reasonable why akimoto was the clear winner

@@petedobson4350 Sweeps do damage but not as much as direct kicks. However, the follow-up after the sweeps will do more damage if the rule allows. In this Kickboxing match, the ref would stop the sweeper as soon as the other guy fall on the floor. In MMA, being on the floor will be a big disadvantage. If this is how scoring work in Kickboxing, then this sports will have no potential for growth in viewership.

@@martincstee5335 hang on, let me see if I have this straight. So you're saying that the world's biggest martial arts organisation, isn't going to bet big because you don't understand the different rule sets in different sports? They have boxing Muay Thai, kickboxing, mma, and submission grappling. I'm pretty sure they will do just fine😂

Kickboxing came from Karate though. It was started by Karate guys who also trained in Muay Thai. The Chinese guy is obviously from Sanda, which is why he was always looking for a throw or sweep. In Sanda rules he would have destroyed the other guy, but with kickboxing rules the Karate guy has the advantage.

I love this kind of fighting, and I hate it at the same time. I love it because it's pure striking, pure technique. And these guys are excellent at it. Unbelievably fast and powerful. I would not want to be on the receiving end of those kicks. I know what that feels like, and it's not fun. But I hate it because as the sweeps make clear, Akimoto can get away with some really irresponsible strikes because he's protected by the rules. You don't get that in MMA or on the street. Any real fighter would put him on his backside and ground and pound him. I appreciate the realism that the MMA ruleset brings to the table, even though, when I'm watching MMA, what I really want to see is this =D

So? You use the environment or rules to your advantage. Meaning you can throw risky techniques in this cage. Pretty sure if the guy was outside on pavement, his strategy would change.
