Excellent! Pak Mei is rare as a kung fu style, but there are still a few different branches and so there are differences between them...which is fine....and expected. For those people saying it is "fake" pak mei... please grow up and do some proper research. Sifu Benjamin Culos and Sifu John Barbary travelled to China often to train there with a specific lineage, and have successfully brought it to France. As far as I can see, they are very skillful and authentic. I don't train in Pak Mei...I train in Wing Chun in Canada, but from what I've researched about them, they are legit, and people in France are lucky to have access to these guys. Respect! :)

I love Pak Mei and all the Hakka arts. I had studied a little Pak Mei back in the late 80's early 90's and later in the 2010's I studied Southern Mantis. My main bread and butter styles are Wing Chun and Xing Yi Quan. One thing I noticed while watching this school performance is how tense and stiff all of the students including the sifu were throughout. That's one of the reasons I quit Hung Ga back in the 90's after studying it for 4 years. None of the teachers at that time were Song or relaxed. I also noticed that some of the students heads bobbed up and down or side to side when moving or striking from their stances. There were also times when the performer winced or closed their eyes when throwing strikes and techniques. I am not at all a fan of choreographed self defense demonstrations such as displayed in this video as everyone came in to attack one at a time in a slow, sloppy staccato manner, very unrealistic for a serious attacker. Even when two attackers moved in you can see one of them not attacking and in at least one instance didn't even come in with their hands up. Just once I would like to see a school do a demo where they have a few highly skilled students wearing protective gear going full speed and power to a Sifu not wearing any protection except maybe a cup and eye protection and take them down as if they were real attackers on the street. Well that's just my 2 cents and observations.

So this is not Wu Tang branch. I am also going to go out on a limb here and assume your incorrectly pronouncing Wu Tang as written, instead of saying it correctly as Wu Dang.

Do you guys do any sparring? Because one of the major flaws in most styles of Kung Fu are the lack of practical applications in fighting due to lack of sparring, also I hope you have some your students compete in professional combat sports such as Boxing, Kickboxing or even MMA to prove how impressive your martial arts truly are.

Trying to display a martial arts' effectiveness in a "combat sport" isn't as effective as one often thinks. In combat sports, a lot of martial arts are very limited by the rules imposed because in a sport scenario there are no groin shots, throat strikes, throat grabbing, eye gouging, finger/toe manipulations, certain strikes grounded opponent, and many, many more. The only stuff you can test in a combat sport are the martial arts specific to that combat sport. It doesn't do a good job of simulating a realistic scenario as we're often led to believe. The illegal moves in combat sports can easily make up like half of what makes other martial arts' movesets/techniques.
@StarkPierrot
@StarkPierrot 3 жыл бұрын
@@BenyaminLorit This isn't even close to true. Eye pokes and gouging typically isn't reliable, it usually only happens on accident and throat grabbing doesn't work. Finger and toe manipulations are allowed. The only grounded strikes not allowed are usually knee's and 12-6 elbows, which are allowed in ONE FC. Groin strikes aren't allowed as they can cause real and serious complications, nobody should risk not being able to have children over a fight, but don't act like a trained professional fighter can't throw groin strikes. I love Kung fu such as this, but it has no real application in the real world of fighting. I have nothing against Kung Fu, but I won't stand for people trying to sell it as legit. I grew up doing Karate and Kung Fu in a rough neighborhood. I was probably in over 100 fights and didn't win a single one of them. It's seriously dangerous to try and spread this lie. Kung Fu is wonderful, but it isn't fighting.

Idc if you believe my life story or not, but you can ask anyone who trains in MMA\BJJ\Muay Thai\Kickboxing, they'll tell you the same thing as me.
@mikehunt9884

lol, tf are they doing. first of all you will never ever knock anyone out with those chain punches, even if you put your whole waist into it, not gonna happen. Second of all if you start using your entire force and do one of those finger jabs, i don't care how many push ups you can do on your finger tips, or using the second knuckle, the "leopard fist" your fingers are going to break. "oh but we only hit the plexus and the throat and soft targets" well, it only takes 1cm off to hit a bone or hard muscles. Nobody is just going to stand there and wait for it, people move, its a fight. As for breaking a brick, 12 year olds can break bricks, its a parlor trick at this point. I love traditional martial arts, but i think a lot of it isn't very effective in combat, of course it has other health benefits, and could also get you in shape, train your reflexes, all kinds of benefits. As for the validity of the actual pak mei kung fu style, and the lineage? who knows.
@BaritoneUkeBeast4Life
@BaritoneUkeBeast4Life 5 ай бұрын
Wow way to go telling the world how incredibly ignorant you are about martial arts! If you have ever been to a school that teaches Hakka arts like Bak Mei effectively and correctly, then you would know that the internal engine they use to generate force and power is much more superior than punching from your shoulders, waist etc. Even in Wing Chun the chain punches when done right hit harder than a typical right cross in western boxing. You also have a far greater chance of breaking your wrist or hand using traditional western boxing techniques out on the street as those punching methods were developed specifically for use while in the ring and only when wearing taped up hands inside protective gloves. Oh and I have sparred bare knuckle using a phoenix eye fist without ever hurting my fingers or hands as I have conditioned them over the years. Heck back in the mid 90's when I did Choy Li Fut we always sparred using the leopard fist and not one of us in the school ever had issues with broken fingers or hands, and that was years before I learned how to condition my hands properly for strikes.
@mikehunt9884
@mikehunt9884 5 ай бұрын
@@BaritoneUkeBeast4Life keep living in a fantasy world. Internal engine? might as well talk about the tooth fairy at this point.. If the WC chain punch was so effective they'd use it in MMA all the time..not once has any fighter been knocked out using a wc punch in the history of televised fighting, not once? and thats an effective punch? I did wing chung for years, i know the style very well. WC punches don't work when it comes to delivering power. Theres no way to generate proper force, and theres no transfer of weight. Compared to a basic jab its worthless tbh. It was effective on the rooftops because of the nature of the fights there, usually the fights would end after one guy got punched in the nose and started to bleed. Wow you did sparring with leopard fist.. cause sparring is like a real fight right? nope. Did you even read what i said? Full force.. not some sparring crap..
@BaritoneUkeBeast4Life
@BaritoneUkeBeast4Life 5 ай бұрын
@@mikehunt9884 Wow are you living in a dream world kiddo, first of all most of the people involved in MMA are dimwits like yourself who never bothered to take the time or train using the chain punch as it's used in Wing Chun and don't realize what it is capable of that is why they don't have it in their toolset. Second before the advent of boxing gloves and ring fighting, western boxers used the proper and natural vertical fist that is used in Wing Chun. Because of gloves and ring fighting like boxing the methods of punching changed to be more effective when forced to wear big bulky gloves. You need to learn how to read as not once did I ever claim sparring had anything to do with real fighting. All I said was that during sparring I never had any damage from using a leopard fist. While sparring is not fighting, one could still incur an injury using a technique like a leopard fist in sparring the same as in an actual fight if the MA if done improperly.

Incredible feats of strength, how ever, the question is, how is it really applicable in the streets? Man i hold a black belt in a different martial art.. Those moves, mine and yours, are applicable in shows and movies. I/u might win a fight cuz of stamina, hard training, maybe a hit or two or a really good kick against an ignorant foe, but when things get real, no single art is good enough, you have to be a well rounded fighter, not a sifu, or a Master or a Sensei, grabble good, and strike hard. Enough with these illusions where ppl will hit you the way u want and stand waiting for your response! As an act.. wonderful moves though!

Well, it really depends on the person and the quality of the training. For example, people say "MMA this", and "MMA that", but without the proper training, MMA is useless, and that goes the same for any fighting system anywhere. As far as the demo goes in this clip, I've participated in demos like those, and they really aren't meant to simulate real combat, they are pretty much for the masses. Real combat is actually pretty boring for the public to watch. But you know, gotta make the advertisement lol.

I mean, to be fair, in a street altercation, a decent boxer will probably beat the absolute crap out of just about anyone who tries something, since you know, 99% chance they aren’t being challenged by another decent boxer or someone of equivalent skill, and things are a little different in a street scenario than a duel. So it’d be more like a few punches and things are done probably. Same for say Muay Thai. They’re singular arts with a primary focus, and they’ll probably come out on top in a street altercation. So if you train honestly and have that same level of skill, you’d probably be fine. If you’re trying to compete in MMA though? No, it won’t be enough. One, it’s in the name, and two, train for what you intend to do. If it’s a hobby then train it as a hobby. For competition, then train it to compete for the rules you’ll compete under. 9 times out of 10 the problem is you got someone who trained it for forms and tradition who doesn’t know the difference between that and fighting competition, and then they step into the ring not realizing they don’t have an ounce of experience in that scenario.

So I'm 100% in favor preservation of traditional martial arts as a piece of martial arts history and Chinese culture, so in that regard BRAVO!!! But in terms of combat applications; I'm so sick of people who've obviously never been in fights perpetuating this idea that a strike to the temple - especially with an area of the hand with brittle bones like the fingers - is going to be an instant fight ender or KO. They're very much not. Aim for the chin or the neck.
@GunShocka
@GunShocka 2 жыл бұрын
They do. And typically they don't aim for the temple with the Phoenix Eye Fist. They aim essentially foe pressure points such at the eye and the throat even doing swiping motions with the knuckle to effectively have a better chance at breaking or crushing the larynx. The fist itself isn't all to brittle either. It's reinforced with the thumb either on top of the side and if used on softer areas of the body like it's intended to it wouldn't really hurt a person with conditioned fists.
