most western people see martial arts as how strong you are, how many enemies you can KO.... but chinese see martial art is a way of life, discipline, comradeship that attached to a fighting system...

Thank you for sharing this beautifully made video about your Sifu and Pak Mei. What I really like about this video is that it very well shows what a great, passionate, funny and humble human being your Sifu is. Very inspiring and skillful still at his age! You are a good person and student Sifu Benjamin. As always keep up the good work. Greetings from the Netherlands

I was with an old Hakka friend who mentioned if I had heard of Night Porridge at midnight after training? He told me it was so hot especially in Kowloon that people trained late at night and finished with a porridge. I regularly ask other gungfu practitioners this question and I usually get ignored or dismissed. Chow Gar mantis New Zealand here. Excellent content.

Exactly, a way of life. Discipline learned in martial arts comes handy in everyday life. Great invention for peacetime life. Many thanks, yet a learn slowly so a stat learning slowly too. Paul.69

the late night "congee/porridge", is a very traditional food for kung fu practitioners in Guangdong, China, a metaphor of saying a person has eaten "late night congee" means he has practiced kung fu, cuz this is usually served by Sifu as the last meal of the exercise day. most of kung fu lovers have full-time job during the day and can only gather for practicing after work.

We are lucky to have so many masters today sharing their experience - SIFU GARY LAM, SIFU DAVID PETERSON are just two out of many masters who share both in-person and online. Yes, there is no substitute for in-person training but you can learn a lot and build your understanding from a lecture, even one on KZbin. Martial training can make you stronger, sure, but did you know it can also make you smarter? Train hard and fight calm...!

@LWSPAKMEI So just so I'm clear ... when you say disciple, are you using that to mean student? Or are you Bai Si Disciples of all of them? Some people use the word disciple to mean student, so I wanted to understand correctly.

Foshan pak Mei is a combination of pak Mei and choy lay fut. One of Cheung lai chuen's students took pak Mei to foshan where it was combined with choy lay fut, giving birth to foshan pak Mei. Many foshan pak Mei guys won't like or agree with this history, but that doesn't change the historical facts. Foshan pak Mei = Cheung's pak Mei + the Choy lay fut of Foshan.
