Well, the problem here is with the writers. We can't deny the chemistry between these two actresses. But the time the writers wrote lines which are parallel to other couples, chaos with fans happened. And romantic acts like Lena sending Kara's office with flowers which a friend would not normally do creates fan confusion. If they don't want to ship these 2 characters they should have not written any of those. And stick to friends only lines and actuation. Writers made fans toxic tbh. Fans fight over different ships. If they have just sticked to 1 partner or no partner at all then the show would be great. Just saying. Peace to everyone. It's the writers fault guys.. not us. hahaha.. :p

The amount of effort Kara put into getting Lena back as a friend is what made this more than friends. I'm not saying we don't fight to keep our friendships, but the level of emotion they both felt that this friendship ended went above what someone would actually feel for the loss of just a friend. Kara didn't do this when James moved or when Winn left for the future, the only other time she reacted with this much emotion was when she lost Mon El. See that's the message these writers were sending.

I really like Kara and Lena’s friendship since Lena is Kara’s first female friend aside Alex, that’s why I’m happy that she found a friend who somehow understands her and she can talk to if she needed a friend, sure she have Winn and James but there are things that you wanna talk to a female friend. While I personally don’t like Lena’s personality, I’m just glad that she’s a friend to Kara and Kara is just a good friend to everyone she loves. For me, their friendship is cute and I don’t want Lena to become the bad guy although there’s a potential for that thing to happen (haven’t watch season 5 yet) but still I’m still hoping she will not turn bad. With regards to Melissa’s reaction to the question, as I can see to some of the comments here, she is definitely uncomfortable because whatever she says people will still react specially that fandom whom I think some of the fans (some and not all) had crossed the line and I totally understand Melissa (and other actors) if she had enough of the toxicity from those people and will choose to just avoid it as much as possible. At this time and age, i think fans should never ever had a right to dictate the actors/showrunners/directors/show what you want to do, sure we fans can give suggestions, criticize the show to improve but it’s always still up to the show whether they’ll take it or not. If they did not take it no hard feeling, if you don’t like how it turned out, just leave. It’s for entertainment, it shouldn’t have to be stressful both for fans and actors. I mean, i don’t like the show giving Kara love interest (i am more interested on her character development) but if the show can pull it off then why not (so far they haven’t so....)

My problem with Karamel was they rushed the romance. They could have at least wait for a whole season 2 before they get them together. The attack of the Daxamites on earth can still happen and Supergirl will just look like someone who will save her friend no matter what because that’s how she is but because they get them together too soon, people read it as she’ll do anything to save her man while in fact she will do everything for everyone she loves (Alex, Jonn, Lena and her other friends). I really like Mon El but I am pissed that they messed up his character. Season 3 Mon El was better but the added drama with love triangle was just hard to watch.
