Numerous things came to my head when he said how they should “play for the love of the game.” 1. Why do the coaches get paid millions of dollars instead of coaching for free “for the love of the game” 2. Why have practices and workouts that cut into these kids studying time for exams that you worry about 3. Why only play first stringers play instead of 1string a quarter (1st string-first quarter, 2nd string-second quarter etc etc) since it will allow every player play just “for the love of the game” 4. Why sell jerseys instead of giving them out for free “for the love of the game” 5. Why have the universities get paid from tv deals just show the players playing for free because it is all “for the love of the game”

I think you should be able to get into college based on your potential to succeed in an academic environment, not based on your physical sporting abilities, the color of your skin, or your parent's financial status. Again, these people are getting a free education that costs most people tens of thousands of dollars. They don't even have to have good grades to get in, just the ability to throw a perfect spiral or dunk a basketball. People who aren't born with athletic ability, and it is something you're born with, have to actually get good grades and work hard to get in, not just throw a ball through a hoop. The double standard is actually kind of gross

You know the billions that they generate like 90 percent goes back to the student in the form of scholarships, but not just to basketball and football, the money makers,but to all other sports like tennis, golf, wrestling, sports that don’t make a money , to the d1 to d3 schools. Even though the top 25 of percent of the D1 school generate that most of the billions. You can literally look it up on their website, the KZbinr could too, but y’all just want to complain and be misinformed. You got the choice to split the revenue among all college athletes or only the selected one or two percent. You know the only logical answer if you are a real leftist.

Van Jones can go some where! Seriously he misses the point. Student athletes make huge sacrifices in terms of practice, travel, competition and missed life experiences. They deserve compensation for that. I was a scholarship D-1 athlete. My scholarship was $5000 at a school that cost 15k per to go to. Our practices were 20 hours or more per week; then time spent competing traveling to competitions, and then doing other stuff for the athletic department. That way less than minimum wage. Then the AD would have the nerve to ask us to do things like be a sales person for the school. It’s crazy. They deserve to be compensated.

The college athlete pay debate translates perfectly with how these people view capitalism and pay inequality in a nutshell. The same way college athletes don’t deserve to be paid despite their hard work, It’s the exact same sentiment in regards to how they view ordinary 9-5 workers not deserving to be paid more. What is happening to CNN, first they had Lenard aka Charlemagne the God on Abby Phillips show talking about Biden is too old to run for President, and no one pushing back on this.
