Most Dark Souls Guitar Ever - Full Build from Scratch

In this video you'll see me crafting a Dark Souls Trilogy inspired electric guitar from scratch. This guitar has Dark Souls features like shining eclipse on the body, Moonlight Greatsword fretboard, Coiled Sword neck and Wolf Ring volume knob. It is a 7 string multiscale neckthrough guitar with active EMG pickups, locking tuners and Ibanez bridges (from meinlshop.de).

@@FlameInstruments I’m sorry, that I’ve never heard of those before. Personally, I would not use tuners that are not made in Japan, Germany, or the United States. So, if I were you, I would use either Gotoh, Hipshot, or Schaller.

The silhouette is reminiscent of a combination of two of the most iconic shapes there is. 1.) A Special Signature Edition BC Rich. 2.) An offset Zakk Wilde Barbarian Psychic Bullseye (et al). And now that I think about it, how the heck does someone even think that one up? And the enhanced blend is seamless. Really impressive imagination and execution. MAN, that's gonna be expensive!! Oh my God. Look at that fretboard!

1) The sanding sponge is so high grit, it doesn't scratch or take material from the fretboard. It only polishes and makes the fretboard look better. The same goes for the steel wool. 2) the hammer was taped many times to make it soft.

Did you even pay attention? Hes using Epoxy for the fretboard, a completely different material to wood. He also did most of the sanding with a board, so he wasnt even touching the fretboard when doing material removal. I dont think you know more about the guitar than the guy who actually built it

​@@beenis08 yeah man I apologize, didn't even watch the half hour explanation of the countless hours he put in, maybe next time he could use some naturally occurring wood that let's through light after you sand it with a regular ol 2x4 rather than a block with a radius, I would say he has previous experience making instruments, but hearing how amazing the guitar sounds at the beginning and the end of the video makes me believe he has no idea what he's doing, maybe he has previous experience like on his channel in other videos

That looks brutal and phenomenal at the same time my man. Congrats! I've always wanted a cool guitar with LEDs but always have been afraid that at one point in the future, the LEDs or the wiring will fail XD Any thoughts on that? Also, it'd be cool to know how much you charge for a custom build!

Thanks man. 1) The way I used LED in this build is the safest and repairable in case of any error. The LED strip can be pulled out any time and replaced. They are cheap and really easy to solder. 2) I have sold guitars in the past for around 1400 USD but it's really variable...

Absolutely awesome. That epoxy fretboard is beautiful...and so was everything else. Top notch craftsmanship and presentation. Brings back memories of fighting gank squads with my best friend in Dark Souls 3 back in the day. Huge Dark Souls fan (and now awaiting the Elden Ring DLC...), and this build went FAR above and beyond anything I could have imagined. Legendary guitar. Also nuts how you took those barbs off the fret tangs. Good thinking and just speaks to your experience. Just unbelievable how good it all looks. And absolutely love the LEDs!

add a XENO 3, Proffie or CFX board to it and you can assign animated graphics to the LED's. additionally it will have an accelerometer built inside it, so you can play drums/whatever sound you like and guitar simultaneously.

I love the idea of a resin fretboard, especially with LED lights. I also think that it would solve fret tang overhang in various weather changes, because wood expands and shrinks based on temp and humidity. But couple of questions...Does the weight of the resin cause neck dive? Also arent you concerned that if the neck warps some, before you can straighten it with the truss rod, that it may just end up cracking the fretboard? (perhaps adding carbon fiber rods in the neck too could help?)

1) there's no neck dive. The epoxy fretboard is very light. 2) the epoxy is more flexible than an ebony fretboard for example, so I'm not worried about cracking. 3) ebony strips which make the laminated neck are "enough", or even stronger than carbon rods.

Really awesome craftsmenship! I'm all into 7 strings lately and this would be my dream guitar. I would have gone for 5V led strips and use a 18650 cell with a stepup/charging circuit. Smaller and rechargable, no risk of leakage. But thats just my 2 cents.

Awesome build, very talented craftsman. Thanks for uploading. My one suggestion is: as the control panel is complex, stuffed, and the builders recommendation is that no one should ever open it. He could have used rechargeable batteries (Or pre assembled battery pack) and simply put in a usb recharge port. That would've given 1k plus recharges and no need to open the battery port for at least a few years. Alternately it could've just been left w usb wiring port that would require usb to be plugged in when lighting was in use-but would never require access to the control box after assembly. Just my suggestion. I think the build is totally amazing and the guitar is a work of art. I never would've thought of that. This guy is amazing! 🙂

Why other people do not make epoxy fretboards? Because fretboard is supposed to bend along with the neck (during relief and string high adjustments) and bending is not something epoxy is very good at. With time epoxy gets even more brittle. So, even if it is functioning now, it is pretty much guaranteed to break few years down the line. Other than that - bloody amazing job.

The Final Fantasy XIV Stratocaster used epoxy on the upper and lower bouts, but sadly no LEDs to light it up. The Dark souls guitar you made looks so cool. I want to see one for Armored Core and Elden Ring now lol.

An idea to strengthen the Epoxy pour, if you get high tension fishing line [thin] cut into 1 inch pieces and place in wet pour it might cure without notice and give some strength to the pour. Testing with small batch might prove a good solution to cracking a fretboard? Again you builds are beyond amazing to watch and see, many thanks!

That’s such an extremely cool, unique and unconventional guitar build. I just don’t get why the head pice isn’t more shaped like an sword grip with that many sword references on the gripboard 😅. Also maybe try next time acid etching for the metal parts that seams to me as an easier way for very small things than engraving.

How about using an LED controller with an addressable LED strip that allows for effects? The corona of the eclipse would like nice if it fluctuated, as if seen through an atmosphere. It could give the effect of the guitar having a 'soul' in it.

What I've been looking for, is someone to take a 7 string width fretboard and space it out for 6. I was disabled in a motorcycle accident a few years back, and my fingers just don't have enough dexterity to not mute out the other strings.

Every time you hit a wrong note, all of the strings break and you have to start over from the beginning. If you dont make it back to the same place in the song where you messed up without hitting a wrong note, then the whole guitar falls apart. LOL. For real though, I love the guitar! Keep it up!
