1st story: I was a truck driver for about ten years. I personally had to deal with people like that *_all the time._* 9 out of 10 people understand that trucks need a lot of room to make turns. But there's also that one person that's either too stupid or too entitled to understand this and stop in from a truck and block us from making turns.

Story 1: Hope that Karen got arrested. 2: Fortunately, I haven't come across an extremely hostile costumer however it is hard for me to be sympathetic to op for crying. Sure anyone that saw that and didn't show sympathy are jerks but everyone has things need done and want to get out of there. I don't know, I guess I have harder skin than op. Use to family yelling out of disagreement so that's might be why I hold not that much sympathy for them crying. 3: See if you could do the same for her. If you can't hang out with women you know, then she can't do it for men she knows. Lets face it she will say no or break the agreement at least a week later, if not less. Go to couples therapy to see where it goes and then break up because no matter what she will not let it go. Story 1: Wow, you really have to wonder how some people get and keep their drivers licenses. Story 2: I feel bad for the OP here. Their job just flat out sucks. Bad customers and bad management. The other customers i wouldve just brushed off, but that cranky Karen was unacceptable.... as was the manager for not doing anything about it. I've said it before.... many people go out in public just to cause trouble. Story 3: The gf here is really insecure here. So, its okay to hang out or go for lunch with one woman, but not another? Can't really have that double standard here. She's really making a mountain out of a molehill here. Story 4: When it comes to Indian arranged marriages.... it's kind of both. I've seen both kinds where they try and set you up with someone, and "here is your new wife/husband!". The OP could easily reject them all. His big mistake was saying he was gay, since they will still try and do something like that. I know its a different culture, but if the OP doesn't want it, then he shouldn't let his parents pressure him. Story 5: Like i said earlier... people go out in public just to cause trouble. I’m not at all trying to be unsympathetic but the cashier in the second story one thing if I heard it correctly, she said she how did it for like 15 minutes or something and then couldn’t hold it anymore so I don’t think the customers or the managers were trying to be rude. I think they just didn’t put two and two together that it had to do with the rude customer.

Second story - I get it, the OP was upset, but why be upset at the innocent bystanders. Most people don't like drawing attention to themselves in such a way and the other customers and the manager probably had that in mind and simply tried to avoid drawing even more attention on the OP. Not to mention it was probably super awkward for them to witness OP in such a state. Again, I get why OP was upset, but they're frustration was misdirected. What they should have done was to actually call the manager over to take over so they can get themselves sorted before returning to work.

I would say that you don't get it because you haven't experienced it then. I worked retail/customer service for many years & I have cried, been furious, & been able to brush off similar situations all depending on the surrounding variables. Being screamed at is abuse and will have a negative effect on anyone experiencing it. The effect will vary depending on the person, history, & situation circumstances. In a customer service situation like the story, you're in a completely powerless circumstance because you're working and can't react however you might want to or call the person out for their behaviour. Plus in OP's case, they were trying their best to avoid that exact situation cause they saw the customer was in a bad mood already. So the feeling that you failed to prevent the abuse paired with the actual abuse AND the fact that no one (especially those that should protect you, like OP's managers) acknowledged/validated that the abuse was a bad thing & shouldn't have been done to you makes it so much worse because the brain already generates its own doubt. With all that, completely unsurprising that OP would cry. Crying is one of the ways bodies release pent up emotion.
