She was the best. She was also the least known. Fortunately, she is finally coming into her own.

She just sang to communicate. She didn't like being recorded, apparently. Wow, she did communicate a continent of meaning. A very unique vocal style.

I had trouble with the video. Distracting from Karen, but I scrolled down so I could just listen. *********************************************************************************************** Sometime in the seventies I was in Zellers, flipping through the discount LPs. I came across a copy of "In My Own Time" with a hole through the corner at a couple of bucks. I had never heard of Karen, but saw from the liner notes that she played 12-string guitar and 5-string banjo AND Fred Neil said that she could "sing the shit outa the blues" so I decided to risk a couple of bucks. When I got home and put it on the turntable, I fell in love with her voice. The woman I was married to at the time absolutely hated her voice. We made a deal that I would only listen to Karen Dalton when she was out and she would only listen to Neil Diamond when I was out.
