Years ago, when I waited tables in college, a group of well-dressed girls were seated in my section and treated me like trash. Worst of all, it was a busy night and they made me go get the manager and pulled a dine-and-dash while I went to the office. Imagine the ringleader's surprise to find I'm the TA running her lab when she gets to class the next morning.

It's not really insane. Especially if they were eating off what could be considered a fine dining menu. If it had things like truffle on it. Truffle instantly raises the amount you can charge for a dish. I've seen dishes with white truffle that go for hundreds of dollars a plate. Never had the pleasure of trying the myself but I've seen them on a few menus.

In my early teens I worked at a restaurant. The boss was so good and kind to us, chipped in whenever we were short on money for school supplies and raised us from rowdy teens to ladies. Whenever he was short staffed we'd come back to help out. One night a woman loudly declared to her 6 year old kid, for all customers to hear, that he'd have to do well in school or end up like us. We served her our business cards with the bill. 2 psychologists, an engineer and an accountant lol. She turned a very bright red.

I waited tables for years. Some people are horrible. I now have multiple degrees and own my home. You may never know their story, but they are people working for something.

Very well said *=)* I was at a restaurant with friends one night, the majority of which had been waiter's at some point..a table right beside us was full of women, being very loud and drinking..well, my friends are a bit saucy (as am I), but we ignored them..UNTIL they started acting horrible towards the staff..I'm not going into detail of what we said, but it was very salty and witty, to say the least..and THEN they decided to call their waiter over (the one they were so disrespectful to) and demanded that we be "removed" and wanted to talk to the owner..he told them "the owners not here, would you like me to call him?"..they said "ABSOLUTELY!!"..the waiter looked at us, smiled, and proceeded to call the owner with it on speaker phone..before he could barely speak these drunk women started loudly yelling their complaints..I quickly told the waiter, "let me talk to Ben", while keeping it on speaker phone..with them in stunned silence (because that totally threw them for a loop) I proceeded to tell the owner how they treated his employees, what we heard them say (one example was "maybe if you could do a decent job you wouldn't be stuck in a dead end job", not to mention what they said when the waiter left their table) and EXACTLY what we said to them, word for word..I didn't censor not 1 comment we made to them..the owner, Ben, said to immediately bring them their check, kick them out, and ban them from his restaurant..and if they said one more word OR didn't immediately leave, to call the police (both his brother's were police officers) and press charges for disorderly conduct, public intoxication and trespassing..man, I TRULY wish I had a photo of their faces 😂 *it was off the charts RIDICULOUSLY hilarious!!* I genuinely didn't think they would go quietly, BUT THEY DID..that was a lesson in what goes around comes around..Ben asked that we not be charged for our meal and thanked us..we then tallied up the cost of all our meals and gave it to the waiter as a tip..we all had a great night and some of the staff came to greet us for taking up for them..my friends that had been waiters at one point in time were like no, they deserved more than what we said..btw, what kind of a stupid person bad-mouths their waiter?! It's like, THEY'RE HANDLING YOUR FOOD 🤦
@Ace-Brigade

Yeah and some waiters at higher end restaurants make an absolute killing. When your bill is $300 and that is an average bill a 20% tip on that is $60. Keep that going all night long and you're easily pulling in $600 to 1,000 a night in tips. Pulling that much and you're easily making a quarter of a million dollars a year before taxes.

My father was the janitor at a county seat court house. From the highest ranking judge to the head of the police force all of them paid a great deal of respect to him... He was the man that locked and unlocked the court house, made sure all the restroom were clean and ready, made sure the hallways etc, where clean and dry and useable. Without the janitor the place would have been a "shit hole" in two weeks and they, the higher ups, knew that and seemed to appreciate his hard work taking care of "their work house"! Also he had a key to every lock there and everyone knew that also. The man with the largest key ring is the most important person in the building.

This happened at a restaurant I worked for in the mid-1970s, Perry’s on Union Street in San Francisco. The owner,Perry Butler, was working the door as host. A very obnoxious group came in on a crowded Friday night and demanded to be seated immediately because as the very rude customer said “I am a close personal friend of Perry’s” Perry didn’t bat an eye. He just said “Well sir, I am Perry Butler and you will never have a table in my restaurant. “ I worked the door one Friday night when another rude party came in. I was asked “how long will it be for a table of six?“ I replied “well let me see, we have one party of six waiting for the table, and the group that is at the table is just finishing the desert”(I was thinking out loud). The customer interrupted me and said quite rudely “isn’t your job to know how long we will have to wait?” The other people in the party thought this was hilarious and they all had a good laugh at my expense. I replied, “well sir I can promise you it will be a long wait.“ They waited for about an hour and a half when they finally gave up and left. I seated another two parties at that table before them. Why are people so stupid as to be rude to the very people they want to help them?

As someone who's worked as an accommodation cleaner for just shy of a decade, I've found that the most degrading part of my job was how people treated me because of it. First story: The reason for recording VIP is because several celebs have been accused of sexual assault or rape. By having surveillance it saves the guests, employees and anyone interacting in those rooms! This also saves your butt if the guest gets too drunk and refuses to pay🤷‍♀️ Second story: I am a family of 7 so going to a wedding where it was required to buy those puppets is too expensive and that’s not including other expenses we may need if someone needs a pair of shoes, or dress because they have outgrown their other Sundays best. So this would be extremely fun to do but not logical for most! Now if they had puppeteers donate or allow them to borrow puppets and people could dress the puppets previously to the wedding starting it would be an awesome idea and people would love to be apart of it! But expecting ppl to pay that much money per person for a puppet they probably won’t ever use again is unrealistic. Maybe fine a puppet rental service or something! Idk hope they found a solution to their problem. Third story: it would be fine if he was able to keep on target but just allowing dog sh!t to fly all over the place is cruel. By no means is it okay for her dog to crap in your yard okay but at least it’s in a pile! Maybe pick it up in doggy bags and return it to her and tell her she dropped it on your lawn! It’s more embarrassing then chucking it at her house. Plus if she knows you have a camera maybe she will stop doing it on your yard 🤷‍♀️

Story 2: Not only that but something stuck out in the post "You don't need your hands to dance", this is untrue, maybe the dances the OP's were excepting doesn't need your hands, but in general most types of dancing are full body, you move your hands, arms, body, legs, feet, and head to the rhythm. So having to do all that with puppets would result in a (potentially) very awkward wedding reception. Yes, it's their wedding, but there is a limit to what you can and can't expect to request of guests, and I'd consider this request to be a little over the line.
@trans_panda

@@SkyEcho751 It's simple. If you don't like it, don't go. They shouldn't have to think about other people's wants on their big day. The only thing that does urk me is making others pay for it bu it is their wedding if they want puppets let them have puppets. But it isn't out of line to want people to partake in something both the bride and groom are extremely passionate about. It's their wedding not anyone elses.

Regarding story 3, I used to fling it back too. The poop spreading around the yard means they have to spend time picking it all up and will inevitably end up with it on their shoes, walked into their car and house. Their yard is going to eventually stink. If they just let their dog poop in their own yard they can pick it up easily and in one go. Their choice.

I can relate with the poop golfer. My roomie was going out of town for a week & one or both of his dogs pooped in the hallway to the backyard (where i let my two dogs go do their doggy duty) the night before he was leaving. I heard him let his two dogs out the morning that he left so he would have walked right over it (meaning that he KNEW it was there) & it was STILL there when he had left (meaning that he EXPECTED me to clean up after his dogs mess for him) not wanting to put up with dog shit in the hallway all week i did remove it from the hallway...... I threw it right next to his bed in his bedroom to wait for him to return from his vacation.

Story#1 Bravo to the OP!! The group of AH's were superficial space cadets and deserved what they got. Story#2 I don't think you're a jerk, maybe just inconsiderate. Imo, asking people who don't normally puppeteer to do so at such a highly stressful event isn't cool(Think of a skydiving wedding). That sounds like torture AND highly expensive torture for something you'll only use once. Maybe let all your fellow puppeteers handle the Muppets and let everyone else just enjoy it. Going to something where I'd be performing something I'd never done before at a great financial burden sounds like an anxiety-ridden nightmare. However, if I went to a wedding where there were professional puppeteers (sort of like the wedding of Kermit and Miss Piggy) doing all the entertaining you definitely wouldn't have to worry about not having enough pictures!! This would be so much fun!! I would be immensely amused to dance and sing karaoke with a flippin Muppet!! HECK, YEAH!! 🎉 😊🎉

For the puppet story, I definitely agree about the monetary cost. OP says in the story that he and his wife are doing shows with professional made puppets, so I feel like they should be providing puppets for guests to borrow since they already have them. They could even get their puppeteer friends to contribute. And just in case someone decides to be a butthole about it, they can have the guests sign waivers that if anything happens to the puppet, they would have to pay to fix/replace it.

This especially pertains older adults, those with disabilities receiving assistance, single parents, etc. Yes, couples can require their guests to spend a specific amount on gifts or in this case, specific puppets, but they should not get upset if people can't afford that and/or choose not to go. Oh my god…I may have witnessed these Karen’s at a different restaurant. It’s barely even a possibility, but I saw a group of women, 4 of them in their early twenties, the last in her mid twenties. She came in and claimed to know the owner, berated the staff into giving her a table, and then got screwed over when the owner of the restaurant stood up from his chair where he was eating with his family and began to yell at her to get out and stop berating his niece (the girl she was screaming at was his niece, and she didn’t even work there. The poor girl was about 14 and crying when she finally got out of the situation). I even had to interact with them. I went to the restroom at one point, and midway through the doorknob rattled and I heard loud knocking. I yelled out that it was occupied (it was a one toilet bathroom, no stalls) and began to hurry to be finished. More rattling. I yelled out that it was occupied and again, and this time I heard loud drunken giggles and more banging on the door. It was non-stop. Once I finished, I went over and kicked the door from my end after more loud knocks. It was starting to hurt my head. Once I got out, the girls stared at me and the oldest Karen began to berate me for taking so long. I politely stated that it was rude to try to force your way into an occupied restroom, and that she should have learned basic manners from kindergarten. Best day of my fucking life lol

Oh my gosh! I had a janitor back in elementary school named Mr. Rob. And, he was the nicest thing! He would make everyone laugh! And somehow everyone liked him and was his friend. Even the shy/ quiet kids. He would participate in all the fun things and put a smile on almost everyone's face! He was my janitor throughout almost all of elementary school. 6th grade. In 6th grade, when I came back to school, it was a sad moment. No one wanted Mr. Rob to leave, but we all missed him, and we were fine with it because when someone retires, they retire. Now, I never disrespect janitors. Especially if they are like Mr. Rob. The kind light that is shown on all of us.

Restaurant owner did a brilliant job. Would have loved to have seen the look on the father's face after viewing the vid of his "spoilt brat" daughter. Priceless 👍😊👏👏👏

I remember those days . When I was in law school, struggling financially there was this crazy woman who would come by my restaurant with attitude and pure hate very disrespectful. My job A Busser just that back then I heard it all. I saw her again 10 yrs later with her brother in court of all places begging the judge to have compassion for her unstable brother. Wow, I still cant believe it its been 40 yrs.

For story #2 : I think they're definitely being unreasonable to require to high quality puppets. Maybe if it wasn't something ao expensive i wouldn't mind. It could just be me but I would rather not attend a wedding where I have to buy something for 150-500 dollars only for one day and not use it for the rest of my life. Its a cute idea but definitely unpredictable and inconsiderate for the financial state of their guests.

Also keep in mind that this is in lieu of wedding gifts meaning they are subtracting the wedding gift- not sure how much that impacts it but still

@@cleventinetheclementine195 Even still, that's the bride and groom's weird fetish that they are imposing on the guests. Sure, it's their wedding and can do what they want, but I would just send them some sort of cash gift and not come.

@@cleventinetheclementine195 but everyone needs a puppet. 2 people I d assume 50-100 bucks as a gift depending on venue. But it’s 150-500 a person so family of. So min it’s 300 for 2 people.

I completely agree, they really are the jerks because $300 minimum for a pair of puppets for a couple to attend is insane when most likely a wedding gift from the couple would be $50 to maybe $150 if they were lucky. I think it’s a hilarious idea but, they should have provided all of the puppets for all the guests. Since they do puppet shows they must each have multiple puppets and they have other friends who are puppeteers who probably each have multiple puppets. They could have pooled all those puppets together to hand out to the guests when they arrived
