Jacuzzi story: Once Karen refused to immediately get out and leave, you call the police and have her trespassed. The next time you have her arrested. Once you had locks on the gates (and I hope you had put up no trespassing signs as well), how was she getting in? Climbing the fence/gate or picking the lock? I would have had a camera on the gate as well.

PSA: Always have security cameras if you have an HOA or Karen anywhere in the area. Always immediately call police if crimes are committed against you or your property. @thieupham493
@thieupham493 Ай бұрын
No, that's too simple, you must formulate a strategy to get your enemies to turn against each other. You file a discrimination lawsuit against the Karen and the HOA and get the entire neighborhood to file with you. Then you cut a deal with the HOA to allow them to be removed from the lawsuit as long as they were all willing to step down and throw Karen under the bus or you will bankrupt the entire HOA, forcing them to be disbanned. I believe in only striking once.

@@Warrickomega This was one good outcome, but HOAs are the brainchild of a corrupt industry that seeks to exert undue control over the lives of others. Can you honestly tell me the first HOAs weren't created by a bunch of White men? They have always been a tool used to keep certain elements out of a neighborhood. This is why they attract a certain type of person to run one. Please find me a single bad HOA story that starts with a Laquita and not Karen.

1) OMG, the entitlement of this neighbor is astonishing. I would immediately call the police and report a trespasser, I think it was stupid not to. But it's good they attach locks and put up cameras. Again, stupid not to call police and file charges, but at least they finally did and turned over their recordings to prosecute her, and it's good the HOA used this to force her out of the neighborhood. 2) It's too bad things went badly and the good boss was let go and an AH replaced him. Good for OP for the excellent MC and giving the AH what he asked for, and for the much deserved revenge. 3) Absolutely disgusting to rip off other's food, especially for the boss and his son to do it. Good for OP's figuring out a good revenge. 4) So glad the husband & father was coming home and they could celebrate it. Too bad the HOA was being so excessively controlling. It's good OP knew the rules and didn't let them get away with bullying her. It's good the military families planned how to throw out this HOA board and make it more reasonable and representational. Nice to see a happy ending.

HOA Sign Story: If I was OP, I'd have complied with their demand I take down the sign in my yard and promptly put it up in the front window so it's still easily visible from the street but outside the Jurisdiction of the HOA because their Authority ends at the front door...They can tell you (within limits) what you can and can't do to the Yard, but they can't tell you what you can and can't do inside your home, shed and/or garage EVEN IF IT CAN BE SEEN FROM THE STREET THROUGH A DOOR OR WINDOW!!! so they can dictate the colour of the paint on the window trim but not the colour/style of the curtains inside the window... Also, in Canada and the USA, an HOA can't stop you from flying the National Flag (Maple Leaf in Canada and Stars & Stripes in the USA) on a Flagpole that meats Minimum Building Code... Violation Notices MUST be sent be Signature Required Registered Mail, it can't be delivered by anyone other than the local Mail Carrier...same with Fines...that is State Law EVERYWHERE in the USA (and Provincial Law in Canada)...

Here’s a legal definition set by the SCOTUS. The area of a property adjacent to or in close proximity to a dwelling is the curtelege. It has the same protections as to requiring for warrants for search or arrest as the interior of the dwelling. Courtesy, even to law enforcement, is given to knocking on the door. That courtesy can then be removed and the person(s) including law enforcement are then trespassed from the property.

When I worked at the local paper in college (in the bundling room, assembling the newsoapers) there wasa lunch thief who targeted Subway sandwiches. This got old really fast, so 2 of the supervisors, both US Army vets, decided to tackle the issue in house. They got everyone to pool their money and buy a Subway Cold Cut Combo with lots of onions and hit peppers, which seems to be the thief's preferred prey. They got it without any condiments, and proceeded to grind up a full box of laxative pills in some spicy mustard, which they then applied very generously to the whole sandwich. They placed it in the communal fridge in the break room and waited. Sure enough, it vanished. About an hour after lunch, one of the temps on the stuffing machine (it inserts ads into the paper) suddenly bolted for the latrine, desperately holding his butt cheeks closed with both hands! He came out of the latrine @ 30 minutes later, only to be met by the supervisors, who tokd him he was fired, that he had to pay for all the lunches he stole, and he was barred from ever coming back. At another place I worked, there were two thieves. One was stealing lunches, and, when he got caught, he was taken outside and beaten, forced to repay those he stole from, and fired. The other one was a 3rd shift worker who was stealing the partial 2 litre Mountain Dew bottles our 2nd shift supervisor would leave in the fridge at the end of the night. He solved that issue by taking the bottle into the lateine with him one night and "topping it off" with what he called "Man Dew"! LOL! Yes, he pissed in the bottle and put it in the fridge. He never had another bottle stolen. We never did find out which scumbag was stealing his sodas though.

A locking lid couldn't hurt. If she defeated the lock, there's another charge. Put "PRIVATE JACUZZI! NO USE UNLESS GIVEN EXPRESS PERMISSION AND OWNERS ARE PRESENT!" right on the lid in big red letters. Maybe rig a very loud alarm to that lid, so if Karen managed to jigger the lock, the alarm would rouse the whole neighborhood. Get a security contractor to monitor the Jacuzzi alarm and call police if triggered and they aren't called to report a false alarm. Maxim 37. There is no 'overkill.' There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload.'

I am super duper on the side of the military wife&fam but having the banner up a month early does seem excessive even to me. I personally think the week before and several weeks after soldier arrives is quite a good limit. A month outside will make it look ratty and I would not want that. Put it up inside for three weeks before and only one week before homecoming does the banner go outside. I think that would show OP’s husband the most respect. But ultimately I feel for OP and her situation as a military spouse. I would be angry if my HOA was being nasty to her about this kind of thing. Nothing more than a gentle discussion is called for.

So we found out one day that she was taking lunches out of the breakroom fridges and eating them. A supervisor caught her, we discovered everyday she punched in pate she was stealing lunches. She thought food in the fridges was for anyone even if there was a name on it. The day she was caught she was eating my lunch, I had bought two sandwiches at a local sub shop and it cost me $20 (this was pre 2K). She ate one and was halfway theough the second when discovered. While she was being fired the front desk called the police and she was arrested for theft. Lunches never vanished after that.

Pool Karen story. If I didn't know them or allow them access to my pool then I'd have called the cops right off. You need to show them there are consequences and not to fuck with you. If you let them push you around they will keep doing it.

Ironically, I'd be in agreement with HOA about the banner; a week is quite reasonable, but a month is a bit excessive and the banner would be exposed to the elements too much. The objections to memorials and flags are just pure pettiness, and the HOA certainly got their just ones, there.

Yeah I would have called the cops the first time I saw she came into my yard and into my hot tub. Trespassing is trespassing so it doesn’t make sense to me that they would wait
