Hey Matt, fortunately since the veggies aren't being boiled, they retain their nutrients and lose none of them since they're not physically being cooked in the water. I also don't recommend a steamer basket, but rather the trivet that comes with the Instant Pot. Hope this helps.

Indeed, it will, Dan. A timesaver (maybe) is just to use a bag of frozen veg and do the zero minutes. Y'all Be Safe!
@lIlIllI-lIlIlIlI2 жыл бұрын
Different vegetables have different cook times. For instance, if you cook broccoli and asparagus together the broccoli will be too soft and the asparagus will be cooked, and vice versa. It's a technique that needs mastering, but when you know how long to pressure steam, it's very convenient.
@Resist42 жыл бұрын
@@lIlIllI-lIlIlIlI I've never had an issue cooking broccoli and asparagus together, both come out slightly crunchy just the way I like them.
@lIlIllI-lIlIlIlI2 жыл бұрын
@@Resist4 In my experience the broccoli only needs about 20 - 30 seconds on low heat after the bobber valve. Asparagus requires 2 - 3 minutes. Just make sure to steam the broccoli outside. 😀

Well, I got my IP 3 or 4 years ago. HATED IT immediately. Packaging was damaged so I couldn't sell/ return. Back of closet, never to be seen again. A few months ago my dog got sick with cancer. Tumor removed, clean margins, good to go! Changing to real food diet. After hours of steaming half a dozen different veggies, and a kitchen hot and damp... I came across a video to..... use and Instapot! (Say it ain't sooooo! NOOOO!) I read it is so much faster. So, out it came, from the bowels of darkness. I watched a few videos, tried it a few times today... and I was one breath from having it go airborne out the back door... and pimping the dog at the corner to pay for some overpriced, already made, "foo foo she she" packaged real food for dogs... the kind that when you see the price, you naturally assume that the chef is coming every morning to prepare it... THEN I came across your video. Girl! I am cooking! (Pun intended!) I am even digging at the bottom of the freezer hoping to find more bags of frozen veggies, after running out of fresh from todays haul at the food store. I thank you, my dog thanks you! Your video made sense. Al dente veggies being packaged up for the freezer for the dog! Phew!
