Ikr, I used to be an assistant bartender, one night when it was particularly busy it was hard to keep up with all the orders, and sometimes I had to ask people to repeat something, one guy sounded a little indignant when he repeated his order, but there was that one man who was just plain rude: he asked for a glass of wine, but the bottle ran out before the glass was full, I apologised, knowing there'd be a slight delay in service as I went to get a new bottle, and he was like "Just get another bottle and stop f_cking around!" You can imagine how tempting it was to throw the partly filled glass of wine at him after that.

Thank you for this. I have a number of other friends with variations of the name "Karen" (including mine) and it has been REALLY hard. Especially when people say things like, "All Karens should be put to death" or "everyone hates Karens." (And, yes, I've seen those and worse -- often.) While I know it's not intended to be personal, it does feel personal, and it makes the internet feel like a significantly less safe space. There are plenty of words that can be used instead; "entitled person" or something similar works and gets the point across. Anyway, thank you for the empathy; it really does help.

I had a similar situation to the Karen and Stacey story 😅 My brother was turning either 2 or 3 years old and I was about 6. At his bday party, the kids were playing with a bunch of our toys and I accidentally had left my favorite stuffed animal downstairs. Back then I loved that stuffed giraffe to death and I only let people who were close to me touch it. One of my brother’s friends from daycare had gotten a hold of it while I wasn’t looking. Knowing the kid was younger than me I tried a couple of times to get it back nicely. About the third or fourth time he was leaving and he still had my stuffed giraffe in hand. I got so angry that I chased him and tackled him to get it back. Let’s just say I beat up a 2 or 3 year old when I was 6 😅

That's all we have. You can keep the change as a tip. Sorry that it's not more." And she glared at us and said "It's customary to leave at least 20% at a place like this. I'm guessing you're not use to going to nice places like this." My brother was actually insecure about this and apologizing profusely. I however was pissed. We were literally minors. In that story about the 2 girls and the toys, the mom of the kid who the toys belonged to taking the toys back was necessary. The Karen who was the mom of the spoiled girl was not going to make her give the toys back. She even told the mom to get new ones. I think that she shouldn't have spoiled her daughter so much that the kid thinks taking another kid's toys is okay. The mom also probably thinks it's okay because she herself was spoiled growing up. The Karen was immature afterwards when she called the mom a bully and said she tortured the girl. When she called the mom selfish that was also wrong because the only ones being selfish was her (the Karen) & her kid.

In 1999, my mother got pregnant with me when she was 24. She had been engaged to my dad at one point, but they spilt and then she found out she was pregnant. They put in a down payment on an apartment, but my grandmother insisted purely for the fact that my mother was still unmarried, she should sign her rights over to her. I will remind you, she was 24 years old. My mom knew that she was doing this so she would have leverage, and was willing to use her unborn grandchild against her own f***ing daughter. Of course, she refused, and because she was over 18 she couldn't force her to sign over her rights. And boy did she have a fit. My mom sat there and let her have her tantrum, and then told her how it was really going to work. She said and I quote “We've put a down payment on the apartment and we're moving out in three weeks. If you want a hope in hell of being a part of the baby's life, get over it.”

Hey, I'm sure we've all done that when we were little, and a majority of us faced consequences and learned from it. Stacey obviously will learn nothing.

That Karen and Stacy story, that has happened to me before not entirely though. I was 3-4 years old and I went to my mom's colleague's house with my mother, so there I saw a child's panda plushie. I thought it was so cute and soft I wanted to take it home, so later when we were going home I was holding it and following my mom, but then everyone noticed I had the plush in my hand so they tried to convince me to leave it even my mom and brother but later when I didn't listen my brother who is 8 years older than me became impatient and started pulling it away from me to give it back to the rightful owners but I was very stubborn back then and started crying loudly and did not let go. I somehow kept it till the way home, I played with it for a few months but it went missing and I think sneaked it to her office while was in kindergarten and gave it to the colleague.

I was shocked to know some days ago from my mom that we have Karens in my country too. Apperantly I don't talk with store employees much, I just act really respectful and check out as quick as possible(I have store anxiety) so I might have avoided this kind of behavior from any other customer. I never met any woman face to face like that in my life, middle ages men acting like Karen? ABSOLUTELY, women? No. My mom is the most anti-Karen character. She just doesn't like trouble. Dad, well it depends on the situation. But seriously, what is happening in the world? 😥😥Why this Karen disease is spreading?

Unfortunately Karens are everywhere, come in all ages, races, genders. But I'll say most seem to come from America, where people think being "free" means you can act as awful as you want.

The first Karen I met was an Asda employee. She rudely told me and my mum to go the other way, whereas with every other person; she politely told them to go the other way because they were also walking the wrong way into Asda. Every time I see that woman, I glare at her. I am 5’9, she is about 5’2 or 5’1. She should have learned her lesson after a scold from my mother which is what she deserved.
