Word Sashi....in MALAYALAM also a slang..I am struggling to explain it in English....but like a “if person is made to look like a fool dump...he is called Sashi”.... funny..similar situation occurred in my friends home...another friend was repeating the word Sashi.. forgetting my friends father’s name is Sashi...hope u get some idea

It's a cultural thing. Like if Nick, u were in India, nobody younger would call u by name. They would call u uncle if they were ur kid's friend and big brother if ur slightly elder. Or sir if u were a teacher here.

Jodi got the pronunciation about 98% right. The consonant sound the D makes in this word does not exist in English. She got it right on her last try at about 1:30. Bada means Big or Bigger (or Older). Chota means Small or smaller (or younger.

In Malayalam porridge has a double meaning of useless or worthless that kinda meaning. So when the wife says porridge is on the table, Shashi is on the table as well. I hope u get it ❤️

In india, especially in kerala, people use their father's first name as surname. So probably, both would be called with the same name. Now keep this in mind and watch the video again you will get it.

The thing is unlike in the west in india its disrespectful (and sometimes insulting or offensive) to call parents or elders by their names , typically you only call as dad or mom (for parents )or uncle or aunty to relatives or even neighbours also , so its very rude otherwise , thats the funny part of this mix up , also bada means big and chotta means small but in this context it means shashi senior and shashi junior . To put things to perspective , if you guys lived in india , only your peers or people of your age and above will call you by your names , people younger to you will call you as sir or madam or brother or sister or uncle or aunty as a sign of respect , irrespective of whether they're your blood relatives or not.
