I AM from and in North Carolina and these part we have a classical station called WCPE outta wake forest/chapel Hill NC, online world wide. They played this piece earlier today, and as I was making My omelette in the kitchen I was listening to the classical music station. I searched youtube for it , and found several version of this.... Sir Karl Jenkins, what a magnificent piece of music. Thank you for posting/uploading this great musical masterpiece.!! Love it !! Peace,Love and Darn Good REAL MUSIC!!

A powerful and haunting masterpiece. I was first mesmerized by it, hearing the first movement themes in the De Beers diamond TV commercials in the 1990s. So, it got a little overplayed at that time, although it was so engaging I didn't mind, and is now underplayed and underappreciated.

Thank you very much, I also find all of Jenkins' music to be stunning, including including this piece and his violin concerto (Sarikiz) which I posted over 6 years ago. But I don't think Palladio is underappreciated. I haven't checked, but I think it has the highest like rate on my channel.

Карл Дженкинс гениальный композитор. Насколько это произведение звучит по- разному,в зависимости от темпа, заданного дирижёром,от точности исполняемых штрихов у сольных струнных.... Иногда,хочется сдержанности контрабасов,а иногда сердце просит взорваться сольными скрипками....и как приятно,когда скрипачи ввигрывают вче до ноты,мельчайшие хвостики,все прослушано,все проиграно.... Душа радуется.

I did not knew the composer, from the same year as I, he from February and I from June. Happely not a modern but lovely work. I dislike composers as Stockhousen. Thanks again for this nice work in difficult times. Love from Rotterdam!

I'm glad you liked it. A time ago I listened to all his music and I was very impressed. (his music made me look for other contemporary composers and so I "discovered" the music of the Polish composer Wojciech Kilar (he died in 2013), I also listened to it all, I liked it so much!) When you will have time, please look for one of my first postings: Karl Jenkins - Sarikiz (Concerto for violin and orchestra) with Marat Bisengaliev playing the violin. I think it is very good work and you might like it too. Thanks as always for your friendship and for your comments.

I was listening to this the other day, and created this short story to accompany the music, as a treatement for a Sci-fi screenplay: Forge1 Forge1 "Control, this is Forge1, showing all green for liftoff." "Forge1, roger that. We show you ready on Ground to Orbit (G2O) blast shield 2. Proceed to runup pressures and alert when on top." The mighty orbiter fired up its Triton VRO trinitromethane thrusters, the clean burning fuel creating wisps of steam on the wet Florida runway, 3 times as wide as a normal airport runway. Captain Fogerty toggled a few switches, and Navigator Ellison confirmed fuel pressures and flow rates, the chiming and beeping of the control modules creating an almost casino like sonic atmosphere. Finally, a bright ping flowed from the systems, and Captain Fogerty radioed back to control "Control... systems are on top, we are ready to go. " Flight controller Simmons replied with a business-like tone from the gleaming tower off to the ships right, illuminated by the early morning sun, shining like a torch slowly coming to life..."Roger that, Forge1. Cleared for liftoff, and we'll see you on the other side. Contact Orbital control at 018.03. Winds steady at 2knots, Southwest until 10000 ft, then on IRL until roll maneuver. " With a final beep, Captain Fogerty pressed the thruster controls forward with his right hand, and all 63 VRO motors producing over 1 million pounds of thrust, catapulted the sleek orbiter forward, as the egrets and herons took flight against the low rumbling slowly giving way to an almost animalistic roar from the rockets. Forge1 barreled down the runway, 23 tons of potential slowly rotating upwards into the sterling skies, parting clouds like a great white shark parting a school of fish...Captain Fogerty relaxed in his seat as they approached the z-roll coordinates and smiled over at his co-pilot. "See, smooth as silk." The blackness of near space slowly enveloped the ascending craft, as Earth dropped away as if a beach ball, green and blue. The space station came into view, as the crew inside Forge1 prepared to start the docking procedure. "Century 10, Forge1 approaching for docking maneuvers." A bright female voice answered "Welcome home, Forge1. Prepare for docking sequence."

@David A Yes, David, I'm a Jenkins fan. I listened to almost all his recorded music, but not Cantata Memoria. I'll look for it and listen to, thank you. Similarly, among contemporaries I listened to almost all the music of the Polish composer Wojciech Kilar. Both are very, very talented composers and each of the two is unique in its own way.

@@sibarit101 It was written in 2016 to commemorate a tragedy in Wales that took place 50 years ago in the small town of Aberfan, A colliery spoil tip above the village collapsed and 40,000 cubic meters of mining debris slid down the hill and finished up burying a Junior School, killing over 100 children and 20 or so adults. It's scored for bass-baritone - soprano - choir and orchestra.
