+nitin bathiya: I would have been more happy if you had explicated these points rather than just mentioning them.... The video explains the gist of Dialectics. Engels borrowed these 3 laws of Dialectics from Hegel and so did Marx. The difference is that Marx did not use complicated jargons like Engels to explain what Dialectics is. The video also attempted to give a jargon free explanation of Dialectics so that everyone can understand. But this does not mean that we have compromised with the core idea of Dialectics. So here I am integrating the three laws of Dialectics given by Engels with what I explained in the video...

Dialectics is a theory of change. It explains how things change. Dialectics rests upon the idea that changes occur in non linear fashion . Going from thesis to anti thesis and then finally merging into synthesis. But the process doesn't stop here, synthesis again becomes thesis which again give rise to antithesis and the chain continues. What drives this process is presence of contradiction. Things change in order to resolve their inner contradiction. This is what I explained what Dialectics is in the video. Now Engel means exactly this , but he doesn't talk in terms of thesis, antithesis and synthesis. Unity of opposites mean contradiction. Every thing contains two contradictory version of itself which for sometime reside together. But the existence of opposites as a unity is not stable. They strive to change the status quo. This change for sometime is just quantitative. Means no significant progress is seen. But small quantitative changes finally leads to a big qualitative change. So from thesis to antithesis is quantitative change but from antithesis to synthesis is a Qualitative change. This is what means by quantitative change leads to qualitative change. Synthesis is a negation of both antithesis and thesis. But synthesis is not final it also becomes thesis which will again be negated by a synthesis. This is what Engels meant by saying Negation of Negation.
