karl's greatest attribute is his ability to absorb insults...sometimes he just spits them back out as goofy little statements about life and sometimes he makes a funny face...but you never really see him lose his cool or bum out too hard when ricky really gives it to him...that's a huge part of what makes him such a great foil

It's quite epic how far Karl has come in life. From a young balding manc school dropout with zero ambition, someone who planned to live in his first flat for the rest of his life, to meeting Ricky Gervais, becoming his best mate and thrust in front of the world to become a global brand. Something he never asked for and even wanted. What a life.

+Tiger Foo You have to give thumbs up to Ricky for introducing Karl to world though. Its interesting combination though, before i knew of Karl i was big fan of Gervais work, everything he did was comedy gold, but the fact that you throw in mix Karl aswell is just statistically almost imposible to get so much of brilliance. Comedy overdose with those two together.

@@hazelwalsh3269 That was a while ago though, they sort of broke apart their relationship, if you look at 2012 and onwards, there has been almost zero news of Karl or mention from Ricky of Karl. @mattgarbutt2548 жыл бұрын
Mr English Insulting or not, he just is what he is: a Mancunian of relatively low intelligence (which is not to say that he doesn't possess a fair amount of common sense, as you can see when Ricky actually finds himself agreeing with Karl on occasion). As Olivia says, there are many guys like that in Manchester with a similar outlook on the world... If you tried to come up with a comedy character such as this, I'm sure you'd see through it pretty quickly - it would not be half as funny for a start... to my mind, the humour comes from the fact that Ricky pushes him just far enough to say the things he does (to which you would probably say "ah yes, that's all part of the act...")
@xblackb0x9 жыл бұрын

He's probably done some dark shit in his younger years (like all men do), he's probably hit a woman at some point in his life, he's probably watched hardcore internet pornography at some point in his life, he's probably sworn at Suzanne and called her terrible names at some point in his life... Karl has to be the most unintentionally hilarious man to have ever walked the Earth, he really is too funny.

Karl is in such a different thought processes. I suspect he's probably a really practical guy but I think Ricky just emphasizes how much different he is.

No people they haven't fallen out, they're good friends, not just for TV and money. They just don't do shows together anymore. Ricky has mentioned Karl on live shows.
