Karl is a very interesting example of a certain way of thinking. He is a common sense philosopher. He has an intuitive, natural born wisdom which seems to serve him well. The way he states his beliefs and views is very forthright, practical and funny as hell. I've tried to put into words what makes Karl unique and that is the best I can do.

Yeah. Ultimately Steve got his voiceovers. Karl got his new kitchen, and breakout shows on Sky. All three are deserved millionaires and are still close friends. Their on-air squabbles in the XFM years led to that. I squabble with my best mates. It's fun. The podcast wouldn't work nowadays, because Karl has learned so much although he always had a wisdom about him which superseded the average Manc. But he's blossomed too much now to take the piss any more. "Moaning Of Life" and "Sick of It" were both fantastic television shows with no involvement from Merchant or Gervais, much as I love them.

@@mrmeg01 its not scripted, no one pointed it out, they just guessed. Gervais addressed this once in an xfm show. He said it took them a month sometimes to write 30 mins of script for The Office, so how long would it take them to write 2 hours of drivel every week for xfm? He even challenged the person doubting him to call in with 5 random questions to ask Karl. (the guy never did). Karl is genuine. Another way you can tell is look at those times he's been on the British morning shows. The way they laugh at his comments you can tell they are unexpected. Also, Gervais said, if they had created a character as good as Karl Pilkington would they have let him do his own show Idiot Abroad? Hell no, he would be kept under wraps and used for their own tv shows.

You can pull up that freaks magazine on the internet pretty easily, it’s actually pretty disturbing he’d carry that around with him, he’s such a genuinely unique character, the way he was revealing them and Gervais reacts it’s such a naturally hilarious effects, Pilkers never fails to make me chuckle.
