@liquidsnake68792 жыл бұрын
They couldn't unless Ricky wanted them to, Ricky is highly educated believe it or not, studied philosophy and graduated with upper second-class honours. For you to make Ricky out of his element you'd need to complicate the discussion so much that nobody else listening would understand it either nullifying the effect and making the speakers sound pretentious. It's also not that Karl is dumb it's that he's childlike and naive, that he actually sees something about human monkeys and believes it's real just because of a picture of a hairy child next to it, that he doesn't question things and just takes it at face value and ofc that he's not very politically correct and says things most people wouldn't
@Grimmers2 жыл бұрын
Ricky is intelligence without wisdom, Karl is wisdom without intelligence.
@Shadow_Of_Man2 жыл бұрын
@@liquidsnake6879 I think tbh you're giving Ricky far too much credit. A 2:1 is not exactly groundbreaking to get at all, it's the equivalent to getting 60% minimum marks which in most cases isn't a challenge for someone who is getting into uni. I say this because I'm on track for a 2:1 atm and barely put any effort into assessments. As well as all that (and from my listening experience), I think honestly the majority of the time what Karl is saying isn't necessarily wrong (less so with these stories but with his random thoughts and such), he just can't word it properly. What Ricky then does is get wrapped up in the phrasing and have a go at Karl on that basis, and equally as often Ricky is completely wrong anyway!

Karl is 100% right about the tomato bit. Galen discussed this in his medical texts and is credited with proving tomatoes were not poisonous. Also, anyone with an iron skillet knows not to put tomatoes in them because it will leach the iron from it. Same with lead (and this is a theory of Beethoven’s melancholia, lead poisoning, from his lead goblet which he had acidic wine in).

well, not 100% the plates would have been pewter, lead would be a little soft to make reliable dishware out of.
