Soto plays every game, is a very high on base % guy, has power, and drives in runs. He's a very good postseason player. He fields his position well enough, and he's 26 years old. His market value will be in the 600 million range.

Soto isn’t going to get 700 or 800 million. It’s going to be 500-600. Also Ohtani’s contract isn’t the “blueprint”. The only reason why he was able to do that is because he makes so much off on endorsements. You can’t expect Soto to do that smh.

The only reason why Ohtani's contract is that way, is because of the betting scandal. The FBI has said that an unnamed SoCal MLB active superstar is/was betting on baseball. The bookie and interpreter both rolled over and gave info. MLB had covered this up and it's going to come out soon enough.

He is all business and profit above winning. That’s his motivation. George was a win at all cost type of guy but not Hal. The only reason Judge is a Yankee is because he wanted to be a Yankee and decided to stay even though the Giants offered more money. Soto won’t do that. Soto is going to the highest bidder and that will be the New York Mets. That’s my prediction and at a price of 500 million plus they can have him. No one is worth that amount of money.

Otani is worth 700m because he has multi mvps, championships, record breaking stats, he’s great playing two-way and most importantly The Dodgers know they can recoup a big portion of that Money back from Merch Sales. Otani’s Jerseys sales to Japanese followers alone was massive, not including his other Merchs.

That slide to 3rd, had it been the Yankees would have been runner interference. Bottom line is the errors is what beat the Yankees. Up 5-0 and blew it with the errors. Such a shame! Great baseball game ruined by stupid errors... Juan will get 500-550 10+ year type of deal, will be a Yankee and run it back. The Yankees HAS to put work in this off season if ever to beat this stacked Dodgers team. They got the 3 MVPs and multiple all stars and solid pitching. Its a flawless super team and the only way to go is to match it. Bring out your pocketbook Yankees front office! 1st things 1st, get Juan locked in long term. 2nd, drop Rizzo and release Tommy PLEASE 🙏 Try to get Torres on at least a small year deal and trade him if you have to but dont let him walk for nothing! 3rd and most important! Pitching pitching and pitching! Need a reliable bullpen to put behind cole! Teams just tee off against these pitchers you currently have! Keep Luke though! Dodgers paid in advance for this ring but run it back New York! LA got by easy with a weakened Mets team and injured Braves team but well see what the new year holds! Hold your heads up! This is only the beginning to a bright future for the Yankees!

Juan Soto has an estimated $3-$5 million in annual endorsements. Shohei Ohtani is estimated at $100 million/year. All factors considered, Ohtani is underpaid. Soto, however, will never provide the value to make such a contract profitable.

Well, if the Yankees want to pay, they're free to do as they please, but considering Ohtani's influence and ability to draw crowds, I feel sorry for the team.

So a 3 hour show only spent 7 minutes talking about the world series, and 2 of those minutes were highlights of game 5. At least they talked about the Dodgers, unlike First Take that spent the whole segement talking about the Yankees & Soto's free agency. ESPN is trash; I bet if the Yankees won SAS would have talked about the WS everyday. First Things First on FS1 spent a few days talking about the world series and covered both teams

Ohtani got paid $2 million this year, the remaining $68 million will be paid in 2034. Even if the Dodgers leave that $68 million into a low fee index fund there’s a decent chance it will double in ten years. And Ohtani will get his last $68 million in 2043. By that time with inflation it will be worth more like $18 million in 2024 money. Basketball players will probably make $150 mil a year by that time. So I don’t know why every sport contract these days are being compared to Ohtani’s. It’s one of the cheapest contract.

Soto’s great but I do question his defensive side of the game though. WS he costed at least r runs due to his poor defense. Didn’t compensated with his bat.

If an owner pays 800 million for Juan Soto they are wasting their money. He's a good player and he may even get better, but he's not worth that kind of payday. People don't realize that the Dodgers paid 700 million for Shohei because they were getting two free agents in one, plus (and this is the real reason) Ohtani pays for himself because now there are 120 million Japanese citizens wearing Dodger blue, buying merchandise, buy tickets to games. Ohtani is Michael Jordan in is prime in Japan and all their money is going to the Dodgers now; which is why they could also sign Shohei's friend Yamamoto to come over and pitch for 325 million. This increased revenue stream allowed the Dodgers to do this, Juan will only bring his considerable skills, but no new source of revenue for the team that pays 800 million. It will be the Texas Rangers and Alex Rodriguez situation all over again, they spent 252 million and he won a league MVP, but they couldn't afford to put any kind of team around him so they continued to finish in last place for their division until they traded him.

If any team pays Soto 700-800m like that guy says, they deserve the mediocrity that comes with it. Unless it's some crazy deferral like Ohtani's, but I don't think most players would agree to that deal.

I don't under $700M to $800M for Soto. I thought Shohei's number came from the fact that he could pitch and hit, so 2 $300+M players in one person. Soto doesn't pitch. Is he really worth $700-800M?

i agree the dodgers are a complete team they are not built around 1-3 guys they have contributors everywhere the Yankees don't and that's the difference. the poor play fundamentals you're suppsoe to know coming into the pros and they failed. that 5th inning shouldn't have happened you're up 5-0 you should win that game.

Soto isn’t getting 700 million. Boras doesn’t take deferred money like Ohtani did. That alone is enough reason. Soto also is not gonna be bringing in the kind of money Ohtani is that justifies that number.

I don't see how a team would pay him more than Otani, and Otani is a pitcher. But then again, lots of QB's getting more than Mahomes and some haven't even won a handful of playoffs games or been to Superbowl

he will go to the team who pays him the most - so how is that not possible for him to get that big contract - it has nothing to do with who you thinking he is worth or not - do you understand how free agency works - amazing how stupid the people in this comment section are -
