Old comment I realise but this is a proper good point. They were already running on fumes at the end of the xfm run, rehashing old gags and anecdotes, not to mention Steve constantly testing the water on his naff stand up bits. The podcasts really lack an organic feel.

You have to realise how good the set up from Karl is on the woman on the train station story. He's already told Rick you see, and probably just mentioned it in passing that they were having a conversation about recognising who was on the poster. But when he tells Steve the same story he adds all this mayo to the story to make it sound like the woman were shocked when they saw Steve's picture.

I love these bits where Steve decided to take Karl on - everyone but Steve can immediately see exactly where it's going to end up. Karl just can't lose this - he has nothing to lose since the show already consists of him being made fun of and him shrugging it off, whereas Steve has this big sign above his head that says, 'sensitive about his looks'. What kills me is that he was probably the best looking at the time, and now has ended up pretty handsome. But he doesn't know that, so it's just irrelevant. xD "And then she goes.... oohhohhh..."

There have been people who have coped with depression with the old Xfm shows, I even remember the late RandyAnders (R.I.P) signing off his channel and saying that the editing and production of these videos got him through his insomnia for years. I remember when I was really young and I first saw the office. I was about 7 and they were playing it on adult swim, I saw the part where Ricky was doing the dance bit and I watched it for a few seconds and thought it was the stupidest thing I'd ever seen. Now I quite like the office, and it's probably one of my favorite shows. Weird how things change.
