Dan1984 I agree. The Office is their most famous and acclaimed piece of work but I can listen to the xfm shows endlessly. They shat out a diamond with these recordings without even trying - in fact, actively NOT trying. The unplanned shoddiness with Karl's buffoonery give this a charm I have yet to find in any other TV show, podcast, or any format of comedy. And despite the lack of scripting or organisation it is endlessly quotable. It's genius.
@ThisCharmingMan19848 жыл бұрын
@Samuel Newton I couldn't have said it better myself. This show, plus their other podcasts, interviews and general chats, are some of the funniest things ever recorded. You can go back to them time and time again, and they still make you howl with laughter, just like they did when you first discovered them. Karl Pilkington is one of the greatest finds of all time, and Ricky and Steve saw his potential, and recognised that they had a gem on their hands. So they effectively sat back and let Karl be Karl, as they knew nothing they could come up with for the show would be as funny as letting him be himself, with them reacting to it. It was a good call, and Karl has been a national treasure ever since. If Ricky and Steve did nothing else with their careers, the fact they introduced Karl Pilkington to the world, would be good enough for me haha. Thanks for the comment, @Samuel Newton. All the best. Dan

Funny enough, Karl is confusing this song with "Save The Last Dance For Me" by the Drifters. Doc Pomus (who wrote the song) had polio and was in a wheelchair watching his wife dance, which inspired the lyrics to the song. With every absurd load of bollocks that Karl says, there's always a hint of truth, or at least a piece of media he read/saw somewhere that he is thinking of.
