We just had her first birthday without her here, so my father, my siblings, and all our kids spent a couple hours at her grave, taking her flowers, and spending time together. My sister birthday is the day after my mothers, so it will take some time for her to be able to celebrate her birthday without that dull ache of loss, but there is also the warm comfort of love when we think about her. Everyone deals with loss differently, but if you are anything like me, you feel numb a lot of the time… until you are not, and the realization that she is gone hits you. The world just feels off at the moment, and you wonder how long it is going to feel that way. It’s ok to feel like you are just trudging along on autopilot sometimes, and keeping busy so that you don’t have time to sit down and think about reality. When you loved your mother as much as we both obviously do/did, losing them was never not going to hurt, but sometimes when I stop to breathe, I can almost imagine the feeling of her wrapping her arms around me for a hug.

My mother got sick January of 2021 and I lived with her 4 months to take care of her until she passed away. 6 months later I was diagnosed with cancer that was spreading. I spent these past 7 months going through radiation and chemo treatments, and am now still recovering from my surgery. My husband and I just had our third miscarriage on Oct 12, 2022. The first being April 24th 2021, and the second being August 31st 2021. Our third baby's name is Riley. If only i had found this song earlier. I just lost my mother 3 days ago. Being in the hospital with her for a whole week while she was ill was so painfully hard. Hoping and praying she'd come home with me, and I'd take care of her as she did with me. The doctor told me that she was just very sick and that there might be a slim chance she might not come out of it. Hearing that broke my heart, especially being told she's improving one day and the next saying she got worse than before. A week went by, and i had to make the hardest decision of my life, and it was to let her go because there was nothing else the hospital staff could do. They unhooked my mother from the life support machines, and she held on for one more day before being reunited with her parents. I miss you, mom, and I love you, too. Until we meet again. Fly high, beautiful angel. ❤

This is now my song to my mom. I am a 12 year old girl who has been through more with my mom than even I can imagine. 2 weeks before my second birthday, my dad passed away in a car accident and my mom went into the worst depression. We ended up having to give up the dog she had for 8 years. My mom chose us over him, then she got into an abusive relationship and got married, with someone that tries to kill her and us.
