by the way, Karl, those rectangular 'gobo's' with the apature holes inside, are called "water house stops", used by "petzval" barrel lenses to control the apature, mainly in LF photography, aka old "tailboard cameras", but more recently, in 35 mm as a retro comeback to this classic design.

Just got my first Scoro 3200j S Pack- after a few weeks assisting Tim Flach last summer I knew I wanted to invest in Broncolor going forward, so happy too be part of the Broncolor Club, and this video is a great way to see what modifiers are available and what would suit my work. Thank you

Good choice! I spoke to Tim the other day, he's progressing well with the new bird book I understand. Also I've got another video coming soon showing nearly every modifier that you might like.

At last you did a video on these special lamps from Broncolor ! But as I asked you before on the Karl Education website, I'd like you to make a full video like the very good one you did for the beauty dishes, about the fresnel lamps. I happen to have a Flooter myself bought in second hand and it's possible to do fantastic dramatic portraits with it. the problem is that I'm not skilled enough and would like if possible to see on the Karl Taylor education website a complete tutorial with the possibilities the fresnel does, I also have picolites and as I understood it's also possible to do portraits with it and the fresnel attachment. I liked the old fashion b&w pictures of the 50's made with fresnels... Thank you Karl, you are a nice person (we met in Paris) and a wonderful teacher...

I also like classic light. Sadly fresnels and other stuff is expensive as f***, but it isnt impossible to mimic that with simplier light tools. :)

Hi Michel I'll put that on the list we can maybe do it on the next live portrait show next month. Cheers Karl.

profoto also had that spot projector. Problem is that they are super over expensive. We have to wait for Godox to do something about that.
@kurtlindner5 жыл бұрын
Would you be actually interested in that as a product? Would you be ok with a high-heat plastic or poly-carbonate (instead of metal, usable with a B1 full power) option? I have a lot of experience with projections but also hate the insane margin on Broncolor and Profoto's projectors; I have been iterating on designs now for a while (a couple 3d printed prototypes so far with great results). Originally it was to be for myself, but if there's a market, the product can exist.

It's interesting how there is a variety of broncolor modifiers that I don't know yet. And it's sad that it's cheaply imitated by other companies in an effort to make a close copy.

Hi Gordon, I think we included 2 results of mine using the projection attachments and one food shot as well? We will be demonstrating more in-depth on these tools in KTE in the near future.

Karl, thank you for the really informative video and sharing your toys. I just might have to sign-up for your educational classes online! The photo of the model of feminine pulchritude at 12:47... was the raised panel wainscoting also a projection?

Hi Greg, no that was an actual set that we built in the background. If you do sign up to our education platform then you watch the whole shoot here www.karltayloreducation.com/class/fantasy-fatale/ - All the best Karl.

Thank you for perfect lesson, Karl. Just two questions: #1 How thick these gobos used to be? #2 Does it impact the final effect if these gobos are black, silver or brass? BTW: Tomorrow i will take a picture of the most beautiful window frame de fin de siécle. Perfect for gobo.
@VisualEducationStudio5 жыл бұрын
Hi, up to 1mm thick and made of metal so they don't melt. They don't have to be black as long as light doesn't go through them.

Godox are missing out on sales. I for one am also waiting for them to bring out fresnel light and piko light with a projection focus solution for product photographers.
@CaravanCamera5 жыл бұрын
Lol. I highly doubt Godox will ever go this route. If they came out with a cheap fresnel or projection unit do you think their market will spend the extra $300 on the 40lb junior combo stand to mount it? 😂😂😂

How is a frosted dome going to create a point light source? The filament inside the clear bulb would be the closest thing to a point light source. The frosted cover is only going to make a very even light source over a larger area..
@VisualEducationStudio5 жыл бұрын
The only filament is the one in the modelling lamp and that is not used for taking the photo, the flash tube behind it is what is used to take the photo and that is shaped like a doughnut so we use the frosted dome to make the flash tube be more like a point light source. In the Pulso Spot4 Lamp in this video I showed how it has a different shaped flash tube to help alleviate that problem.
