the truth that many vagabond readers don't like to face is that most are closer to matachi than takezo
@jonathanmaldonado4134 Жыл бұрын
You’re right most of us are closer to matachi then takezo, but still doesn’t mean we can’t change for the better but yet it again it’s all about being discipline which most of us lack
@archnekro4269 Жыл бұрын
@@jonathanmaldonado4134 yeah at first im the same as 90% of the other viewers, even though we hate him but we definitely feel related and feel a connection with Matahachi, in fact most of the people in real world are like him, we weak,manytimes being stupid, making many mistakes, not as strong, wise and as cool as Musashi (our Ideal) Matahachi is a portrait of the things we have been trying to hide all this time. That's why we hate Matahachi because he represents the side we hide and our weaknesses. Tbh i also feels like Matahachi is also a symbol of strenght and moving forward. Because after all the mistakes that his carry from the past he still continue his life

I cried at the situation of matahachi cause he was literally me .

Don't think it's that simple. Musashi represents our ego and how to take control of your mind, Matahachi represent our fear and how it is okay to be weak but strive to be better and Kojiro is innocent being beautiful and yet dangerous

I guess Matahachi and Takezo are the representation of Motivation vs Discipline
@josemarialaguinge Жыл бұрын
Takezo's way have their own problems tho, one thing is discipline the other obsession.

They represents Hedonism vs Stoicism. Not just motivation vs disciplin

Failing vs Achieving. In, the end, both of them reach the conclusion that what they were doing for all this time is futile; I think that's the way Inoue try to teach us about the Wu-wei (the art of not trying/doing).
@shparto11186 ай бұрын
I understand why you think so, but I don't think that's true at all. I think you need a goal to be motivated or disciplined, and they never ended up having any tangible ones. Musashi never set out to fulfill a specific goal like becoming a master of the sword, a scholar, a better person, or even to understand himself or the world. Because his father drilled fear and inferiority into him, he wanted to be invincible but that isn't a thing in the real world so he just went around beating people up. He didn't even train or use any real weapons for the longest time, he just ran amok. You don't need discipline for that. Come the current moment in the series and he still hasn't fully understood that. Matahachi straight up ran around with no particular goal in mind, clinging to whatever currently masked as his need to have a place to belong to, be it becoming a famous ronin, an instructor, or a partner. He was too twisted around to realise his real desires. He never belonged in the village/family/his relationship - the granny only took him in to have a heir, and Otsu loved Takezo instead of him. He was told/shown both but pushed the thoughts away. He runs away from everything, including his thoughts, all the time. It's only natural he never dedicated himself to anything.

Vagabond is beyond such dualisms, but if it makes it easier to undertand, they both start "detached from the heavens" , Takezo by his obsession and violence and Matahachi by his desire for recognition and pleasure, they both start stuck in the world of men and words

I just got to the part where Takezo and Matahachi meet again... Dude, I stopped being disappointed with Matahachi and started feeling sad for this dude

My favorite character in Vagabond and the book written by Yoshikawa. We all love to talk and analyze and even found over Musashi but I think Matahachi is a character that's much more relatable to readers

The amount of effort that you put into these videos is insane! I'm astounded that you don't have more views for the quality of your videos. I hope you can keep making these and doing it the way you want to.

I can’t believe I’ve recognised you only now! I started this video some days ago and I’m finishing it today... It’s not even the first time I come across your channel, for example I’ve put your Inio Asano videos in my Watch Later playlist, since I’ll be reading his works in the near future… wow I’m just so distracted. Anyway you have an amazingly charming voice, enviable even. You narrated the story elegantly, your vocabulary rich. I can feel the respect you have for the story and you did it justice, much respect. Matahachi has to be my favourite character, actually he’s more of a person because of how incredibly realistic he is, weak, limited, flawed, real!
@lexaand Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much, I appreciate the kind words, and glad you've enjoyed the content! Matahachi is an incredibly developed character, and those flaws certainly do make him interesting. Despite those shortcomings, he shows that it's never too late to change, even if it takes many attempts.
