when i was in the Police in the UK I worked with someone just like him. In the end, whilst still in his first year, he was sacked from the job - long list.. disobedients, discoutesy to his fellow officers, neglect of duty. Thought he knew it all. When he was at the training school they were playing out a scenario where he was playing a member of the public. He was instructed to run from the officer practicinghow to stop someone.. but took it too far and jumped the front wall.. He was then seen running from the establishment by regular police passing by.. Given the place was a secuirty risk.. IRA.. at the time. they gave chase in their car and took him to the ground.. His training sgt. caught up.. telling everyonelse to remaininside the premises.. and the officers were appalled. He just took things too far. I was talking to some boys I knew in the street one day.. really friendly.. they were good guys.. but I suggested they go to the park with their football as it was very near breaking a shop window.. really friendly encounter. as we walked away he went back to them and said, 'don;t take anynotice of anythng she says. youplay where you want.' the lads were older teenagers and I had met them many a time before he came to work there out of training. I was livid. I never carried stories to supervisors.. only this time.. they were not at all impressed. yet again he was given words of advice. in the end one day he disrespected both a Sgt. and an Inspector to their faces and walked out ofa meeting with the Inspector. he was suspended for severe insubordionation and they pulled up all his previous misdemeanors. the man had gone to uni first.. started out as a pe teacher at school. didn;t cut it there and before he was long in that role joined the police. failed in that.. all because he was an entitled jumped up little shit. Soon after he was fired I answered the phone at home one day. to a dirty sexualised phone call. I knew it was him.. I recognised his voice.. so I said his name nd said.. hang around. the Police are coming to see you over this. It was before we could trace phone calls easily.. years ago.. i did nothing about it. but never heard from him again. He was a nasty bad lot. Somehow, he was popular with most members of the team but the Service saw it otherwise. they spent far too long giving him too many chances. I dont care what happened to him but would like, out of curiosity, to know if he ever changed or stuck at anything.. I think not on his previous record.

Nolan isn't a dimwit. Totally believe his mom that he has a chemical imbalance, possibly ADHD and anxiety. It probably was either treated wrong or never treated based on his age. By what he said, he obviously has a lot of regrets and feels he can't do anything right and he'll never change. He feels worthless and hopeless, so what's the point! The invisible disability that when you look at him, you just see a dimwit. I guarantee later when he calmed down he cried because he knows what he did was stupid but he couldn't control himself.

In almost every case of long contempt sentences, they pretty much universally get reduced to under a week with credit for time served. It's supposed to convince whoever to shut up and listen, but when you've got a mentally ill person it won't have the effect. I remember reading about the Nolan guy, he definitely does have a few screws loose so in one hand I feel bad for him but he needs to be on his medication especially in a court setting.

Pro-tip from a 20-year paralegal: do NOT attempt to defend yourself in court. Unless you have a law degree and specialized in whatever type of matter you're in court for, you will NOT succeed.

Even with a law degree you shouldn't do it. Representing yourself in court, even if you are trained, is still a bad decision. Even the best lawyers will lawyer up for their trial. Let's get this straight people. MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR PISS POOR BEHAVIOR. If you have IED - Intermittent Explosive Disorder - there are medications and treatment that will help you deal with anger. Otherwise, just stop with the excuses.

100% agree. If you cannot control your temper or refuse to take medications if you have anger management problems stay out of society. Using your mental illness to excuse your bad behaviour demonstrates just why they should stay away from the rest of society. There are reasons for certain behaviours. Mental illness was not his reason. Failure to take his medications was . The mental illness was simply an excuse. If he refused to take his medication he cannot use his mental illness as a crutch to escape punishment for his misdeeds.

Mental illness, more often than not, alters the ability to understand and to will. For what we know, that guy could've really been prescripted with medications for whatever (bipolar disorder, for instance) and be in that state despite his actual therapy (to get it right, sometimes, it takes years). It looks like you never had to do with really ill people and with consequences.
@saintsone7877
@saintsone7877 Жыл бұрын
@@TrollMalefico1984 Quite the contrary sir. Have had to deal with it (a child suffering manic schizophrenia) for near 50 years. It is a struggle to ensure they take their medication regularly but it is done to prevent episodes such as occurred in court. Knowing the stress etc her son would have been under appearing in court that day those caring for him should have ensured he was fully medicated to lessen the risk of such outbursts rather than allowing him to appear at court obviously unmedicated. His condition may be a reason he exploded but it should never be an excuse nor prevent consequences being imposed. Too many with mental illnesses (due to the legal system) unfortunately rely on their conditions to avoid consequences. If he is safe to be in public according to a psychiatrist/psychologist rather than in an institution then he should be treated as any other member of society. There should not be any get out of jail cards in such instances. For too long bleeding hearts have used mental illnesses as a crutch when someone behaves badly.
