In a game I stuck a sombra with mag nade after she threw the translocator and she still teleported and removed the nade completely.

With the release of OW2, the devs changed how damage boost is applied to the new abilities. Back in OW1, if the player was damage boosted while casting the ability, the ability itself would be damage boosted for its whole duration, including impact damage, DOT and AoE. That applies to nanoboost, mercy's blue beam, bap's window. In OW2 though, for all the abilities from OW1, that logic stays unchanged. For all the new abilities though, the damage boost from nanoboost & mercy blue beam only boost the ability's damage (all types of it) when the player is also being damage boosted - so, for example, if the Virus has been infecting an enemy for 1 sec, but then Mercy decides to damage boost the Sombra, the Virus will start dealing more damage. But if then Mercy stops damage boosting Sombra, the Virus damage will go back to normal. And when it comes to Bap's window, only impact damage is damage boosted; AoE and DOT stays unchanged (so there's no point in, for example, shooting Sojourn's Disruptor Shot through the window). this is so annoying as a mercy player. You have to preemptively calculate when your ashe will use her dynamite, and dmg boost BEFORE she throws it, but with characters like soujorn you’re able to dmg boost the damage after it has already been thrown. It’s super offsetting at times because they’re no reason for them to be different.

Virus DoT is reduced on Ramattra because of his armor in Nemesis, not becuase of the block itself. DoT effects are not blockable by Doom/Ramattra. The only exception is Ana if the shot connects while the block is already active.

One thing i want to point out, I was on Doomfist and I punched a Sombra's translocator while trying to escape, and it stopped my punch, causing me to die. It didn't break, and sombra had not teleported yet, so took no damage from it. Would love to see some testing around interactions with that like if turrets try to shoot it still and such since it could impact the game, like my punch scenario

If you get hindered after throwing the translocator but before teleporting, you still get teleported. This means that you can escape hinder if you throw the translocator before the hinder grenade connects

@@ddenozorthe burst damage is less than other abilities and can only affect one person at a time. If you miss, there’s no splash and it can be outhealed quickly. Also, Sombra can’t just tp out if she does anything, she has to commit and there’s various ways to win the 1v1 against her. She’s a better duelist and provides some utility to her team but I wouldn’t say that she’s less fun to play against cause I’ve killed plenty of Sombras so far.

So seeing how damage DoT works shows that Sombra’s DoT is purely off the Character’s damage and is always connected to her while ash’s dynamite fire is owned by ash and the dynamite so if either gets damage boosted the fire damage is boosted. Don’t know if it’s intentional or not the Virus can’t be windowed but would like to see sombra with basically a nerfed Fire strike window combo to one shot squishes.

Yesterday i killed a JQ with a headshot from the virus and it showed in the kill feed too and she was hacked so she took the extra impact damage but she was low so im wondering if theres actually a Crit multiplier for virus or not?

I think it's just how the kill feed is reading the damage output data from the abilities. Like, so the game knows the base damage of your attacks and that a crit is double that or whatever. So it's seeing the 20 impact damage be reported from the player models and goes OH SNAP that only does 10 but it said it hit for 20, dat musta be a crit! Even tho the bonus is from hack. Other damage boost abilities don't stack an nothing else ever reaches double damage modifier, so that's why we haven't see this kinda display bug yet. But like I mean the damage numbers are being applied right, so like...who cares if it says headshot in then kill feed? Lol

the "head shot virus kill" might be how its coded as a critical damage that is noramlly just headshots that trigger it, i think in the new game mode pve event mode theres a buff to give attacks always crit and it works basicly the same with what every the condition is, virus just has a bonus inital dmg on crit.

That Virus-Dynamite comparison is going to confuse a lot of people. Virus has IMPACT damage and only AFTER it has DoT, the IMPACT is the damage getting doubled. Ashe's DoT on Dynamite gets doubled because that IS it's impact damage.

Feels like its a bug that damage boosting increases DoT increases post Virus cast. They made it a point in OW1 that Mercy and Ana only damage boosts the projectiles when they are casted under the influence of damage boosting. Not when they've already been shot.

@@sethescope the reason i think it's a bug is that for jq's bleed you need to be damage boosting her both when she uses knife/carnage/etc *and* you need to keep damage boosting her while the bleed is going (if you stop and reapply damage boost it doesn't boost it anymore even though you hear the damage ticks), while for sombra's virus and soujorn's aoe you can start and stop damage boosting them at any point during the ability

She plays more like an assassin now so she's on par with Tracer and Genji. Main difference is that: Sombra is still the safest and hardest to pin down out of the three, having both a very fast disengage and strong positioning via translocator & stealth. Hitting a squishy with virus makes it much easier to kill and she has synergy with hack silence + virus 120dmg in 2s. Her core weaknesses are still the same, supports healing her target means Virus is useless and she has the lowest damage out of the three. She is less aim intensive though since Virus takes away most of someone's hp. Tracer is still the best duelist out of the three, being able to oneclip someone in 1s and dodge 4 abilities with blinks + recall. Her main issue is that she's the only one out of the trio without strong vertical mobility and she has the weakest disengage, where if she wants to disengage she has to keep 1-2 blinks and that affects her dueling strength. Genji is the middle ground between Sombra and Tracer with a reset mechanic that lets him 1v5 teams if played well. He has good burst damage but is still decently safe. He trades mobility for this however, being the least mobile out of the three and heavily reliant on good movement (wasd + double jump) and deflect in duels.

Not really. It's Symmetra's turrets that have collision in that interaction, not virus. Virus is only a projectile, while turrets are buildables with hp that can be destroyed mid-flight, and therefore have the side-effect of being capable of blocking projectiles, i.e virus.

Probably just got your wires crossed but the answer to the question at 1:29 is "confirmed". The enemy hack reset the stealth cooldown so it does in fact prevent going into stealth. Hack's silence duration and full debuff duration should be clarified.

Honestly sombra is very strong rn and I think making her translocator stop at enemy barriers would be a good change to make her a little more balanced out and give a better reason to use barrier heroes

She’s arguably underpowered because emp is way weaker and not as good to use since everything about it has been gutted they need to buff it or add emp virus interactions

@@celestialenigma3874 they could, but she is still extremely strong, if anything they could bring emp to 35% but even then she's still insanely strong think of it like this: EMP deletes so many ultimates already, and all sombra needs to do is press Q, it gets rid of like 85% of ults in overwatch as a whole, even at 30% of current hp its still a team fight winning ultimate.

I saw a tik tok where sombra threw her transporter through stigmas rock as he was about to launch it and the rock broke. I don't remember if the sigma was on the friendly team or enemy team.

I'm generally very negative about everything coming out of blizzard, but this rework is the best thing I've seen since they released ball. The DoT is whatever and the translocater change is weird, but this stealth change fits sombra's identity so perfectly it actually makes me want to play her

@@Goldy01 It's better than the original, for sure. I just wish they reduced it's lifespan instead, because throwing it up above people's heads before unstealthing to bait abilities and still getting the kill was my favorite, it allows you a little bit more creative freedom
