Love how the view on Sombra through the ranks is so diverse, in Masters+ she is considered high skill and most of the times people avoid playing her to not throw when they dont know what to do, in Gold- she is considered no-skill and people whine when they see one on the enemy team, in Plat/Diamond people will whine when she is in the match in general in either team because she is weak or overpowered depending on which side she's on and still have a consistent bellow 50% winrate in all ranks.

Gold reaction times are funny. As a Sombra I just went to enemy backline and started Emoting, it took whole 4 seconds for them to realize I was there lol. Tunnel vision is crazy

It’s because the lower the rank, the lower the coordination. That’s why Sombra is hated in lower ranks and feels overpowered.

shooting the Winton bubble also makes your supports lives much easier as majority of them will not be able to heal you when you just sit in the bubble! it bothers me so much when I play Ana and someone blames me for their death while they were having a little tea party with the enemy monkey in the bubble and I had to waste precious time breaking the bubble before I can heal them because they refused to. as for the "no skill" accusations, I play a lot of Mercy and if you've ever seen a baby Mercy you know exactly what I mean when I say you can absolutely tell the difference between them and a good/experienced Mercy. when people say "no skill", they usually only think about aim, but there is so much more to skill expression than just that. for a good Mercy, that would be situational awareness, positioning and movement. ideally you always wanna be last to die, and you can't consistently do that if you don't have any of those skills. they take time and effort to learn and that's why the people who always scream "reee no skill" tend to do terrible when you challenge them to play her.

The only no skill characters are Moira, she can damage you from a decent amount away, her bubble can damage you, and heal you and the only thing to worry about is when to tp away, which as a rein main I really dislike that my charge can give an entire party at least two seconds prep time

@astradotcom As someone who is trying to learn Mercy as a back up ( For the days where my aim is crap), she has gained my respect. I disliked her because of the of baby/ heal botting Mercy's but after trying her out, I enjoy playing her. I've realised how important her positioning and movement are. So trying to learn her movement has been a fun time. Plus going DPS Mercy in Valk, given the chance is enjoyable. Do you have any tips that could help/ a top Mercy player to watch?

Honestly for the first one my biggest gripe is supports not swapping to counter/help. They'll swap if they're getting dove, but tell me how we live in an era where it's common sense to go hitscans for the pharah but supports won't swap ana for the hog. You see your tank getting anti over and over help us out and go Kiri.

I'm a flex player and support is probably my most loved role with DPS being the close second. I personally love switching to help counter as I feel like I'm being super valuable to the team when I'm able to but I've also noticed when I'm playing tank that my supports rarely switch to help out. I wasn't sure whether it's just because tank is my least played and least skilled role so I'm playing with lower elo supports who aren't comfortable with counter swapping or not

Its always a mercy or life weaver being toxic in the chat afterwards too when they are just ass and awful and it’s qp and their heros aren’t good LW can be but he is pretty boring and doesn’t offer a lot of dps but mercy being literally the worst healer for about 3 seasons now and she is still picked every game by people who rage after we lose cause of that mercy pick but you know non aiming healers wanting people to aim makes sense, and they are always dying first as well as a mercy 😂

I'll swap but it fucking sucks. Hog = force ana = enemy team force kiri. It's so static and one dimensional. If they would just fucking gut Hog the way they gutted Orisa then maybe they could begin to bring problematic DPS and Supports more in line and maybe Sojourn or Kiri won't be meta for 2 years straight

17:37 was once playing a comp match against a widow that was oppressing my team. We ended up having a dps that made the change to a hit scan to contest them and spent the rest of the game going 2-5, but they were annoying enough to give us space and we won because of them making that adjustment. It sucks that there was no metric to reflect the impact that change had.

@@dbhDilemma Mei is one of the heros that don’t usually pull high stats, but her contributions can be game changing. She has the survivability to annoy a Sombra, Tracer, Genji; with little to no resources by her teammates. Meanwhile also helping create and occupy space, relieving the pressure on the tank or even making an enemy ult completely useless with her cooldowns. None of which will be showcased in any stats and then there will be a pocketed Soldier/Cree saying "you're welcome for the carry, Mei" as if they didn’t benefit from the Mei's kit.

For question #1, specifically for tanks, while it is possible for DPS to clear high ground, you have the most resources to do so. Don't think "this isn't my job" and just stay on the objective, many times clearing high ground IS your job. Secondly, it is better to use 2-5 ults per round than saving 1 ult for the most "high value" when really it's more valuable to have more ults per round. Some ults can turn team fights and swing all the momentum in your favor.

@morocuda2090 like Rein? Still take the time to do it at the beginning of the fight, but realistically if it's a very high ground dominant map that takes too long to get to as Rein or Sig or whoever, then you should be playing Winston or some other dive tank.

i’m sure this has been said about Junker Queen’s shotgun spread already - but i’m saying it just in case. it has much farther range than you think, and “shoot the closest person” isn’t perfect advice if applied 100% of the time. Scattergun not a Reaper shotgun. it’s got a pretty tight spread, and falloff begins at 15 meters and ends at 25 meters as of Current Patch. if there’s a tank in your face and a squishy 10 meters behind them (or a big squishy 10-20 meters away) it may be the right play in that moment to look past the tank and shoot the squishy while holding the enemy tank’s aggro.

18:25 that is actually amazing advice that I don't think I've seen anyone else give elsewhere. Lot's of people talk about ultimate tracking, but it's usually implied it comes through experience and gut feel. Going off of damage and healing numbers is a really interesting method that I don't know if I've seen explicitly stated before.

Literally that and if you are playing a mirror match up (ex: Soldier vs Soldier) I usually keep an eye on time and damage/heal numbers and my own ult to help be able to call out if i think ill get my ult first or i know they most likely have ult bc i im at 90% for mine but they have more damage and those few seconds and that warning to your team to be aware of that is more helpful than people think

Definitely most of the time, though I get the occasional literal guards around their widow carry. I’ll face a 4 stack and the widow will stand in the middle (or very close to within short grapple distance) 3 people guarding her.

The Winton jump advice came from a Flats video, as like, an offhand comment. The lost subtlety is its if you're jumping in just to poke and get out quick. Whether or not youll get shredded depends what is or isnt looking at you from the angle your kumping from

After the rank reset, I got placed plat and grinded back with brig 70% wr. I never got called braindead hero in master/GM but it was every other game in plat/dia. It's actually pretty hard to play brig against coordinated dive. She's supposed to counter it but you still have to do everything right

Agreed, as a fellow brig main. My worst is aerial, followed by Winton. Usually, dive I can handle somewhat besides him. Tracer and genji are annoying but more killable. Nice win rate. Mines like 55% or so but still a struggle to climb. Feels like many games I can't do anything to prevent some losses no matter how well I do or I gotta swap to Baptiste for reasons like aerial. However, that being said, even when I do well, it's such a mixed bag how the rest of my team might play so hard to get many win streaks or even be consistent for winning in general.

People put way too much emphasis on skill levels of certain heroes. I 100% agree that certain heroes are easier to pick up, easier to do well with, etc. Junk is easy to pick up, but mastering him is very difficult, while some heroes have a higher entry barrier, but once you got past that, the hero might as well be just as easy to play. I say that as both a Moira and an Echo main, who are widely considered to be close to both extremes of the spectrum. The important part will always be the player piloting the hero, not the hero itself. And every hero has different things to consider, different ways to approach the game in general. This is true to high skill heroes as well as to low skill heroes. Moira and Mercy have a lot of movement tech. Reaper needs to track enemies cds almost as much as the tank. Soldier needs a lot of positional awareness due to his offangle playstyle. And while some heroes don't have high tech barriers, the playstyle and gamesense of the player are always more important.

skill floor and also value floor/ceiling are things that can feel frustrating. if someone has a low skill floor but also can get more value than something that has a higher skill floor esp in low ranks, it feels bad. in high ranks the high skill ceiling characters tend to have high value ceilings too so you see those way more often

To me this is the worst part of Overwatch. It's like the game has an identity crisis. A competitive game that is unwiling to do what is nessary to make it great out of fear of losing the people who rely on those heroes. Clearcut example is Moira having that locking beam. There is no reason it should not just be a regular beam. And I say that as someone who loves to play Moira.

@@Xfacta12482 I'm actually not saying that. Varied heroes both in skill requirements and playstyle is pretty much the core strength of Overwatch. However if you push it too far then things become problematic. So just talking (specific parts) of big offenders. Some offenders of getting too much value for doing too little are Moira's attack, Junkrats spam and Mercy on several levels. On the ability front Sombra's perma invisibilty is just a step too far. As was DPS Doomfirst.

@@RenbroNL I think the biggest offender of low skill, high value for the longest time was Hanzo. People tend to say that he's a high skill ceiling hero with a lot of mechanics needed. I call bullshit. I literally used him in his one-shot era to clilmb from Bronze 2 to Plat 4. Guess what? There's when I really needed to actually aim, so I went from a Hanzo player into an Ashe main since now I can actually aim and have decent enough mechanics to use aim intensive heroes (such as hitscans, Echo, etc). Now I can't even play Hanzo because he's so boring to play. And yes, I even think he is easier to play than Junkrat. If you die from Junkrat spam, you can absolutely say you either have bad positioning or bad reaction times. His projectiles are that slow. But when you turn the corner and get deleted by an arrow from across the map that wasn’t even directed at you.... what can you really say? Oh, and I love the complains of most Hanzo mains that can't kill with just one arrow now saying: Now i need to hit two arrows in order to kill..... Well... yeah? Like most projectile heroes? Can't you aim that second arrow too? Weren't you that good when you needed one?

Here's my various questions. Why cant we have customizable ui. Having to glance way over to the corner mid fight is difficult sometimes. I just would like ti have my health bar, even a simplified one, between the crossairs and the ult charge indicator. Kiriko: why not give her kunai some damage fall off. This would be something to adjust her overall power without having to sacrifice how well her kit works. Reaper: how about firing a slug for his secondary fire. It could do 70-85% as much as a full spread of his normal shot, but with a single accurate projectile. This would positively reward good aim via the headshots and give him a tool to deal with things that are outside of his normal attack range. Mercy: is there any way we can have the self heal when healing allies with her cadeus staff fixed. Her movement is ok, it's her self sustain that needs work. Soldier 76: why can't we have the fire & reload while running. I know it was just an April fools thing, but it was the smoothest he has played, ever. Pharah: will you please give us the jet dive back. In tandem with the recent movement rework she received that ability made her so much more fun to play. Reinhardt: can we please get the speed boost on sheild shatter. The counterwatch (I think) version of Reinhardt sheild break is fantastic.

Stat farming is a problem on the team i isually play with. My main Genji brute forces it and pulls off high damage numbers on the character. But he requires to be babysat for the whole game and drop resources into him. So he usually goes "why are we losing if i killed two?". Meanwhile the enemy team manages resources and beat us with only that. My usual supports almost always say "we need a shield", "we need more tanking/damage". Usually saying that the lost is not their fault, but the win is absolutely on them. "We won because we healed 17k." Meanwhile the tank is dying because they're pocketing the 4 times countered Genji and every nano-valk is dedicated to him. So yeah, the Genji will have high stats, but it will cost the match just for the amount of resources needed for him to farm them.

honestly I am a big advocate of shooting the tank. The amount of DPS in the game way outpaces what most tanks can handle. This does not apply to the top 3 tanks (Hog, Hoarse, Mauga) but with almost anything else you should just pressure him out. Is this a hot take?

The real answer is what comp vs what tank? Some comps can shoot a ball all day and he'll never die while occupying your entire teams attention while his team deletes yours. Other comps just make a Reinhardt unable to exist and he's just an easy pick if he ever has the audacity to try and use his hammer.

The skill required for a hero usually resides in the difference between the skill floor and skill ceiling, moira being arguably the most skill-less hero in the game. A t500 moira and a gold moira will have little difference besides who lives a couple seconds longer or who chose the right orb. Where as for a hero like widow, the difference couldn't be any more apparent, just grapple tech alone on widow far exceeds anything moira's kit has to offer.

If "no skill" heros were indeed crutches then everyone would use them to be in GM lobbies. But that's not the case, Brig hasn't been that OP in a long time. The reality is, people place higher value on some things than others. Rein is way easier to play compared to Doom, but people get mad at Doom players for feeding because he's so difficult to play well. But rarely get mad at Rein being a shield bot. Also keep in mind 80% of the player base don't know what each role's job is or how to do it properly. At the end of the day, just play the heros you have the most fun on and ignore the haters. Just try your best not to be a One Trick player.

i feel like for the first one i see this all the time is quit peaking the widow, so many games where the enemy widow is popping off and no one is playing around the fact that there is a good widow on the enemy team. one of the biggest ways to counterplay widow is to be aware of where she is and what her sightlines are and dont play within them. also very important to ping the widow everytime you see her so people can know where she is

7:53 btw Karq do you recommend you have the setting of that you fire all the ofuda at once or have it that you can use a single one. I presume the latter so you can heal multiple targets with it but what I’ve found is that my healing uptime is to slow when I use the single ofuda one causing my team to die a lot.

I'm kinda shocked how little people ping across all ranks. If the enemy team has a sniper, pinging where they are or what spot they are in is INVALUABLE for both avoiding her and contesting her. Some people don't seem to realize how much of an advantage knowing where the Widow is gives you when fighting her.

Show me all those top 500 no-skill one tricks and I'll think you have a point. Game sense being almost half of the game makes every character a skill character to a meaningful extent. I know the plat Genjis get deeply upset getting outplayed by a Moira, but that is and was a legit skill diff😂

I complimented the other team after getting rolled; we couldn't get out of spawn. A player on my tram friended me after the game and I accepted absentmindedly. He followed me into my next match so he could spec chat my position and ult timer for the other team.

"No skills" seems like an odd saying. I am by no means an expert nor do I think I am amazing at the game, but I normally get to low masters in every season (That being said I haven't played ranked in 3 seasons now, but it's not important for my take). I think every heroes require different set of "skills". I can climb to masters in every role dps, tank and support. All these heroes people consider "No Skill" perhaps is easier(?) to play, but by no means I think they take no skill what so ever. Let's take Mercy for example. I can play heroes like Bap, Ana, Moira quite well, but for the life of me play Mercy perfectly. I don't think I am bad at Mercy, but when I see someone playing Mercy really well I can see I am lacking in some kind of 900 IQ Mercy way of thinking.

The most annoying thing in low elo, is people think trickling is ALWAYS bad. It's not. If your team has the control point, you SHOULD TRICKLE until you reach 99% then reset for a final (hopefully final) team fight

@@thedoctor6798 the point of king of the hill (the game type where you capture one point) is to reach 100% before the enemy. If you have the point it's better to infinitely die on point extending the time you have control of the point until you have 99%. When you have 99% you stop trickling in and regroup. When you fight and win, the enemy won't be able to retake because you only need 1%. If you fight and lose, you have more fights because the enemy won't be at 99%.

the map he mentioned is still potentially unsafe to shout tho if i’m not mistaken. when i shout out of spawn on control center or any nepal map or whatever, you can be a few seconds into the first fight with 2-3 seconds left on cooldown; and shout being up or down can be the difference between a won or lost engage. especially if you have a lucio it’s prolly best to just hold onto it.

I flip out when I see our tank just hanging out on cart or bot when we just had a team kill - I’ll push up to get ready for the next fight and look back and our tank (and usually everyone else) just hanging out. I play zen sometimes and I’ll just push up solo to see if it’ll get people off their butts - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Hate players that aren’t proactive.

No skill heroes are heroes, that you can play in a cheap and lazy way, and get 100% underserved value for your team. Examples, are: - Junkrat chugging grenades at a wall, and getting free kills with it - Soldier/Bastion holding left lick to win - Moira holding right click behind the tank - Hanzo spamming E, and getting random headshots. "No skill" heroes can (of course) also be played in a very skillful manner, and you wouldn't flame them then. But when you see them playing in this lazy manner, feel free to call them out. You are _almost_ doing a favour to them: they need to realize that they are not challenging themselves, before they can improve their play.

The worst piece of advice/game knowledge is that this is an objective game. Yes this game has objectives, but you have to kill people first then get the objective. Only in like ot where objective like truly truly matters, otherwise, your mindset should just be “how can I win this next teamfight”

I love watching my team strafe back and forth constantly when it's like a 1on5....would be nice if you actually stopped moving so we could just get the easy clutch but ya I understand its all about you staying alive so dance away, even when no ones looking....and make sure to crush your team with you're respawn while they are in conflict...lower medal ranks is like watching a chicken fight.

If this was really the case and he was that good youd see people all flooding into champ rank and T500 only playing mauga buy hes not the most common tank to see on there plus even checking the stats mauga has a below 50% win rate until you hit Master and Grand Master so he only goes positive when you get higher in skill and rank but even then characters like Winston, hog, orisa, or even sig are far more common to see even in the T500 leaderboards

Stats watchers are the absolute worst. Yes, it can sorta give you a clue where things may be lacking at times but I’d rather a zen be discording and shooting with less heals than a Lucio just hanging out heal farming or a heal pylon mercy. Calling out someone’s damage or heals (unless it’s like SUPER LOW like in the hundreds after 5 minutes of play) is just silly. I also find it funny that people do this like they’ve never had a bad game ever.

There's no such thing as a no skill hero. It's always the player controlling the hero, not the hero itself. There are games where a sombra/widow/sojourn will dominate the game and the next one they just suck or the mercy who just sits behind a wall the whole time heal botting vs the mercy who does all the crazy flying strafe techniques.

Every single hero has the same Skill Floor.. and that's staying AFK in spawn. HOWEVER, a *High skill-floor* is a hero like Mercy. Not requiring too much effort to gain moderate value.

Symmetras removed laser is no skill. Moira, aka Sombra but with heals instead of hakcs and a huge aoe bouncey orb insttead of virus, with Symmetras old laser with longer range. That's what makes no skill when that hero is over tuned and in every lobby in every RANK REMOVE IT NOWWWWWWW AAAAAAAHGHHH they think crap like moira gives player retention-- sure maybe for a few lesser skilled players but then other people have to vs that shit and will just quit. i know, because i LITERALLY quit overwatch 1 until i heard symmetra got her laser removed/reworked to not be auto aim. im about to go play marvel rivals until moiras gone low skill floor low skill ceiling is no skill mercy is low skill in an acceptable way because she doesnt out dps soldier and out heal mercy the guys squad was annoying idiots but the gg/gr thing is PTSD from it being used as a unbannable way to say diff im better than you loser when its a clear stomp with hackers/smurfs

7:53 btw Karq do you recommend you have the setting of that you fire all the ofuda at once or have it that you can use a single one. I presume the latter so you can heal multiple targets with it but what I’ve found is that my healing uptime is to slow when I use the single ofuda one.
