The reason it has a plasticy feel is because most stone papers (not sure about this exact brand) contain around 20% HDPE, which is a plastic. And the paper can be thrown away in the plastics recycling bin. It is used as a binding agent. However it is said to degrade with the stone by sunlight. And they don’t need to use water to make it. But, it does contain plastic.

Apparently, normal recycling plants can't recycle this stuff.

water proof, tear resistant, big selling points for me. kinda wish you had spilled the water on the pages with the ink to see if it would come off. If you still have it and don't mind testing that for me i would appreciate. Thanks for the great review.

I love how you think of left handed people, as I tend to have odd issues most people would overlook. Great insight to this product!

Yea it's all about the way one holds the utensil. If your running the fatty part of the hand against the paper, smearing becomes a possibility. I know many people use the "over the top" grip and many other styles, so it's certainly not an issue for everyone.

Wow this was such a great video! I appreciated the thoroughness of it. I have been curious about stone paper for a long time but honestly I'm not sure its for me. The good Japanese like traditional paper just works so well with every pen and I love trying out everything and switching things up constantly so I like having paper that works well with anything

This is true. I normally don't like ballpoints, but this plastic limestone paper clings on to the oil based ink very nicely.

14:32 I would give it a good 10 sec+ drying time for fountain pen ink in order to see how it behaves. Fountain pen users don't really like to use those super absorbent paper like the regular copier paper stock. It has super quick drying time but it makes the color of the ink looks dull (and tons of bleed thru). Other than the issue with the paper is bad for the nib, it would be more helpful to let the ink completely dries and see how it looks. Many expensive fountain pen friendly paper has long drying time but they show amazing colors, which is more interesting.

Yeah smear is a huge problem especially if you're into fountain pens and you're left handed. That's why I think left handed people should try switching to their right hand. My grandfather got it beat out of him in school so now he can write with both hands. But since they don't try hard to correct that stuff anymore, like pencil grip, posture, and what hand you write with, I'm having to relearn my natural grip all over again, and it's really difficult.

Now that Peter (from "Peter Draws" KZbin channel) has reviewed the paper, a wider audience will get to know the pros and cons of it, I particularly don't like the properties of the paper.

I have the blank page version sold as a multimedia journal book. Very very difficult to use. Water colours dont take. Acryilic peals off. Ballpoint pen wont write over the top of penil if youre trying to create outlines and omg the outlines push through so you get the imprints on the next 2-3 pages underneath. Cool novelty idea but the paper is effectively platsic. Would buy a paper journal over this any day. 💛

Thank you! That was very informative! I would have been even more satisfied if you showed a lot of different inks and fountain pens (as for instance a pilot falcon fine nib and a penetrating ink, or a platinum desk pen + carbon ink would definitely behave differently) on this but it doesn't seem to be your thing and you're already making a very thorough test, that's already wonderful :) Thank you, because we see their ads everywhere and they advertise this as the best paper ever. if you go on their website it says clearly that it's calcium carbonate and resin(aka plastic) if you ever heard of biodegradable plastic, that one is starch and resin also calcium carbonate can hardly be called stone, more than likely they have it from grinding fish bones and letting them to oxidate (and yes that is almost calcium carbonate) so no ... it's not good for the environment paper is much better if used from recycled and if we plant more sources for paper

end of life isn't the only component to sustainability though. it's much better for the environment than a typical paper notebook because of the carbon and water footprint of making paper from wood, even if the paper can decompose. though I'm not sure about it vs recycled paper or something like sugarcane
