What is really pleasing is that with the sponsors and the relevant authorities gave it the thumbs up and went with it, these one off challenges are great fun and there are no losers really, it benefits athletics and creates interest...

Amazing event and kudos for both athletes putting themselves out there on the spotlight. Even if the “stakes” are low it’s respectable to put yourself in a possibly unfavorable position. The true spirit of sport!

This is so exciting for the sport. I think there could be some big pay-per-view opportunities for athletes. Like Mike Tyson vs Noah Lyles. I was really surprised at Mundo’s speed but I guess he really is that special at pole vault and probably has amazing explosive speed. It makes sense that there is a lot of cross over with elite athletes, a bit like Hobbs Kessler being a junior world champion rock climber, 800m and 1500/mile Olympian. Maybe Kessler and Mundo should compete at something too.

Rematch - 200M?
@RePaperBagАй бұрын
warholm would crush duplantis at that, too much stamina required compared to 100m, and warholm is a runner
@TheChinaPlayАй бұрын
@@RePaperBag I agree. But what other event would be competitive?
@brendancroft5290Ай бұрын
@@TheChinaPlay.10 seconds is not a blowout here. This was great, but I don’t think we need a rematch between these guys. Like Karsten said, it makes more sense as a one time thing. However, I’d be down to see some crossover exhibition events between other athletes
@q12aw50Ай бұрын
@@RePaperBagagain, wrong. Learn about field event workouts before commenting. They train sprints HARD. Including 200m I’m willing to bet you thought Warholm would win
@TheChinaPlayАй бұрын
@@brendancroft5290 I agree. That's what I'm saying. I'd like to see more from them and other athletes. For example, this year watching Tebogo run everything from the 100 to the 4x4 has been fun. When guys go outside their event it really showcases just how good of an athlete they are. Remember when DK Metcalf ran the 100 with pros, that was great to see as well. I'm waiting for Tyreek vs. Noah in the 60m.

There's easily 0.1 sec in his run, just purely on refining technique. Karsten stood straight up from the blocks and was not relaxed enough. Fast muscle is a lose muscle.

Good fun. I would've loved to see this duel in 2021, when Warholm was at his absolute peak. 2023 would be interesting too. For reference: 2019: 46.92 (as well as 47.12, 47.26, 47.33) 2020: 46.87 (as well as 47.07, 47.08, 47.10) 2021: 45.94 (as well as 46.70, 47.08, 47.30, 47.35) 2022: 47.12 (as well as 47.24. Was injured big parts of the season) 2023: 46.51 (as well as 46.52, 46.53, 46.76, 46.89, 47.09, 47.30) 2024: 46.70 (as well as 46.73, 46.95, 46.98, 47.06)

Karstens start want that great honestly. If he would have had a good start it would have been way closer, I bet in a rematch it would be even closer, shit IV logged a 10.52 100m time and vaulted 17’8”. I’ll race and make a fool of myself any day also tripled 52’8”, I like the event and the hype and all. Let’s see it again. Like I said if you need a spot filled, sign me up.
