Flawless fighter...his teeps are insanely precise and fast. And the way he moved and cut angles, switching stances. Smooth karuhat!

I’m not sure if you speak Russian or not, but the entrance speech is from Andrey Tarkovsky’s “Stalker”: it speaks of stiff, brute power as weakness. As trees grow they are giving and gentle, as they get old and stiffen, become brittle and crack. It’s quite appropriate to illusive striking style presented here. Thank you

I'm Russian and may to say that you are absolutely right! He said: 'When a man is just born, he is weak and flexible. When he dies, he is hard and insensitive. When a tree is growing, it's tender and pliant. But when it's dry and hard, it dies. Hardness and strength are death's companions. Pliancy and weakness are expressions of the freshness of being. Because what has hardened will never win.'

Thanks for pointing this out. I'm Thai so I have no clue about this even though I'd watched a couple of Tarkovsky films when I was younger and I liked them very much, especially Stalker and The Mirror.

8:50 , I just had to mark it. Such a beautiful combination, jumping knee for a big point, then drops down to a low-wide base to avoid the sweep counter, while staying close to avoid knee/punch/elbow counters. Then breaks clinch explosively and fires a horizontal smashing elbow on the break which also increased the distance achieved on the break. In short I love close range fighting and the masters of it, such a beautiful art.

I followed Karuhat's fighting career when I got into Muay Thai back in the 80s. I like his fighting IQ, flow, strategic explosiveness yet loose and relaxed...he is MT poetry in motion, just like Ali in boxing back in the day.

@@8limbedwarriornakmuay175 the real problem comes from lowering the level of artistry and upping the financial sphere of it. If a boy knows he will be backed by the betting community = earn more, there isn't much to think. I think it is time for a new federation. Old school muay thai, with different rules and fixed betting system where no style is favored.

@ Golden Era Muay Thai was too good to be recreated . One of those immortal thing that will forever be unique . Before fighter destroyed each other , today everyome play the game. Before Muay Matt and Muay Khao were demons capable of wrecking anyone , today Muay Matt and Muay Khao are a joke . Before nothing was useless everything was effective and at the technique were perfect , today you get fighter who hit the arm with kicks that don't hurt and just back down ( Panpayak , Kingsanlek , Thaksinlek ) . Today's fighter got no killer instinct they don't wanna end the fight , Seksan fight like a drug addict , Suakim technics is crap , Thanonchai win by taking more damage than anyone , Wanchalong is the strongest fighter so he just take kicks/punches/knees/elbow and throw powerful strike like a dumb robot no thought , Rodtang is always angry AMD if someone use footwork then Rodtang is like a dumb kid , Rodlek is slow as hell and fight like a robot , Yodlekphet also fight like a robot , Kulabdam is one dumb one dimensional fighter . Chujaroen got trouble against a no name Chinese under kickboxing , Yodpanomung can't hurt a cardboard with his knee , Chamuekthong fight like a drugged knee fighter , Yothin knee like a kid . Panpayak is smug but he can't kick people into oblivion , he is a po in fighter with occasional head kick KO . Superbank can only throw people to the ground , the rest he sucks . Kaona must use robbery and corruption to win . Scoring system make no sense . So many people dive , Manachai he dive 3 time all lose by KO 3 time , he ala lose by injury . Muangthai lose but get a gift decision against Ferrari . Muay Khao are dead ( only Nuanglanlek is OK ) . The best Muay Matt of today are sloppy and aren't even half of the fighters compared to even the middle level May Matt of the Golden era . Fight can end with 1 minutes left. judges are bought , round end with 50 seconds left . Fighter do nothing during the first 2 round , in the last round they dance . Some fighter only fight during the 4th round ( Kulabdam ) . Thanonchai dive in China . Seksan lose to foreigner cause he is sloppy and fight like crap . Rodtang got trouble with Gonzalez , Haggerthy and Tenshin cause he can't deal with fighter with footwork . Muangthai use his chin as a guard , wanna see him fight more foreigner . Panpayak KO by no name foreigner cause he is arrogant . Rungkit fight like a bitch , 1 strike then just stall the action . Yodkhitsada fight like shit and KO by Takeru . Wanchalong lose to 3 foreigner all he got destroyed . Petdam KOed by Ducth fighter because he can't deal with footwork . Petdam have trouble with French fighter . Buakaw , Yodsanklai , Yodwicha , Saiyok , Chanajon , Petmorakot , Tengnueng , Sudsakorn , Iquezang , P.T.T , Payak Samui , Saensatharn , Sittichai , Superbon , Kem , Jo Nattuwot , Sorgraw , Jomthong , Pajonsuk , Bangpleenoi are the best at 70 KG at some time but they rarely if ever fight each other so the 70 KG division is a joke even when it's one of the most exiting . At 65 KG there's only old legend like Saenchai , Singdam , Jomthong , Kaew , Kongsak , Nong-O . Other new 65 KG are either fighter who can't hurt anyone like Chujaroen , Chamukethong , Yodpanomrung . Or best fighter at 65 KG who just make their debut at 65 KG like Kulabdam , Tawanchai , Saengmanee , Rodlek , Yodlekphet , Neunglanlek. So at 65 KG nothing is stable . Rungnarai lose fighter of the year and lose by KO to two foreigners . Muay Femur doesn't exist anymore ( no beauty and effectiveness anymore , or if their is beauty or effectiveness it is against low level fighter or not consistent ) . there's only fighter who appear in control : Rungkit , Panpayak , Kingsanlek , Gingsanlek , Superbank . And those who are powerful with kicks : Petpanomrung , Tawanchai , Saengmanee , Superlek , Ferrari . Only fighter I think are the best : Superlek , Tawanchai , Saemapetch , Petmorakot , Saengmanee , Ferrari , Neunglanlek , Panpayak ( barely ) . Muay Thai will never be the same , jus pray that it doesn't get worst

You're absolutely right that he had the ability to use Karuhat style's (not so much his contemporary game - which seems uniquely his) check this video for those that don't believe: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZvbZKiGbJ6koKc It's exactly what Karuhat does from his floating block/knee-shield game (usually when he's in the open stance). Block the open side with the rear leg/floating block/knee-shield and counter with your own kick. Teep or sweep if they step forward into range, lean back if they headkick, pivot away/inside their switch kick. I guess Karuhat's southpaw/open-stance game is secretly like Seanchai's orthodox game; floating your rear leg forward as a check puts you in an orthodox stance - but just already doing a check. So cool!
Muay Fimeu, my brother. The style of supreme technicians.

@@mementomori8991 It looks/feels like from this video that he is Muay Khao core, but with the usual Khao core focus on knee's and elbows replaced by an emphasis on kicks and elbows (with punches only used to open/worsen cuts made by elbows ha) His clinch positions are extended framing positions like the knee-bar guard and fully extended hands/frames that deny boxing and closer forms of clinch/grabbing (where he then creates a vacuum almost to drop guys into when they are expecting more frames but instead fall into his strikes (like his nasty horizontal elbows over the extended guard of the opponent). Even when he does clinch he holds the wrist with his right hand to land his insane uppercut elbows which are blocked by central guards that then allow blows to the side of the head instead. Every part of his game is subtly unorthodox - it's sick. One of my favourite exchange in this video is the part at 8.50 where he off-balances in the clinch with a throw attempt, is ready to follow up when the opponent takes time to balance with a flying clinch pendulum knee with his right leg only to anticipate a counter and break the rhythm with his check/monkey block with his left knee blocking the opponent's own rear near whilst making space for a trademark Karuhat devastating rear elbow a few moments later. I mean...WOW! The power of love, indeed!
