I feel like Asgore's been really underrated recently. Everyone says Sans is the saddest character in undertale because "he lost his friends/papyrus" when ASGORE has gone through twice the pain. He lost his will to fight at all. He lost his two children. His wife abandoned him. Hell, he's not even trying to win in his fight, because he thinks he doesn't deserve mercy. Asgore will always be my favorite and the saddest character of UNDERTALE. He has the most complex storyline.

I’d argue Sans is still sadder if u interpret him as being aware of all the player’s, maybe even the fanbase’s, save files, in pacifist neutral and genocide. The sheer repetition would leave Sans feeling numb, but then he’d feel awful for feeling numb about the pain of his friends during the genocide routes, or for not sharing their happiness during pacifist routes.

@@archertreloar4806 understandable. but i forgot to mention how asgore may or may not know about resets. Like sans, he doesn't really remember them, but they know how it works and what it is. He just doesn't know when they happen unlike him, which is why he ordered the royal scientist to figure it out. This is based off the part in ASGORE's battle when you try to tell him he killed you, and he seems simply unaffected, just nodding. I may be wrong though, but yeah, like I said, it's your opinion, and i dont judge it.

I just love the optical illusion in Asgores battle sprite x3 depending on your impression of him, you can see one of two things. Him looking down in shame as he cant "even bear to look you in the eye." or, a wicked grin as he tears after you with everything he has. if you were to play the game like any old RPG and not pay attention to the lore then that second one is probably what you would see. honestly he's one of my favorite characters x3 just because of how... interesting he is when you really start to dig deeper. when you really think about it, the poor guy needs a hug TxT

You probably right becuse he could have the hp of undyne with the dodge of sans(he can dodge as undyne says she couldn't hit him and only managed to hit him once) so not only would je not get tired as quickly as sans which means he would dodge more and he would also have the hp which wpuld allow him to regen his stamina and dodge again also he has the souls... Which this time they would most likely not rebel so ypu are dead and can't reset

Lil fun fact about asgore, He says it himself after his children died he started the war out of rage, and states that he "Wasn't thinking" he also says to you on a pacifist run quote on quote "Human. It was nice to meet you. Goodbye" which actually shows that he doesn't WANT to kill you, but he feels like he has to, because all of the underground wants freedom he feels pressured into it

I know that Undertale has its fair share of detractors because it got so massively popular, but honestly I played it for the first time not long ago, and I think it's a fantastic game with so much nuance and subtlety in terms of its world, character building, and even how it interacts with the player. It may not be the prettiest to look at, but it's amazing that this little game made largely by one college-aged guy could manage to evoke so many emotions. I just fell in love with this song when I heard it for the first time, and somehow felt so strongly for Asgore, despite everything he had done.

Man the pain asgore has gone trought his Life. For example:First of all he lost most of his people on a War. He lost his kid and his adopted kid on one night, his wife left him, he fighted 6 innocent kids and killed them when he only wanted peace for him and his people. He took the 6 human soul waiting until another human falled down, he never wanted to fight you he breaks the mercy button because he thinks he does not deserve mercy. Truly an good character
