This clip doesn't do the performance justice, I was there in the audience that night, and the whole crowd had a raw electrified emotional intensity running through it that just kept building with every verse as she went. I'm tearing up now just reliving the memory of those feelings in the moment. I'm not particularly what you'd call a 'fan' of Kasey Chambers or country music (there are very few artists I'd say I am), IMO she's a great song writer though, and she is hands down one of the best live performers ever! "Nah, it's not possible.. surely... to put all the angst, frustration, pain, sorrow, trauma, sweetness, beauty and then anger, rage, determination and humanity into one performance?".... Casey Chambers... "Hold my beer!"... Fuck me, that is hands down the most powerful thing I have ever experienced, probably the most powerful performance ever recorded. It's a joy beyond my capacity to express to watch it. I especially adore that one moment before the last refrain where she sings "The last chance that I got... " and backs away from the mic singing "got" (is singing the right word?) and the she literally "Loses Herself"... completely for just a moment. And Casey, every time I watch and hear that moment.. I was prepared to say nope when I first heard the banjo. This song couldn’t be great sung in this type of genre. I would be horribly wrong. It’s absolutely brilliant. It completely blew me away. The best cover of one of his songs ever. Wow That’s all I have to say right now. Very emotionally driven and sung so incredibly well. It also highlights just how great Em’s lyrics are as well. Edit: Of course I liked and subscribed right after I found your channel. I heard it today on a reaction video.

as a massive eminem fan, but also loving a wide spectrum of music as well as a guitar player and songwriter.. this was done to perfection of the style and tone of Kasey (especially as a LIVE performance rather than an edited recording). It also made me realise how much the words play a part to a song, and I'v been throwing on old karaoke tracks and doing the same thing with a lot of other Eminem songs and I'm amazed how many of his songs in particular can completely change when the words are sung in a slow deep melodic style. I hope i see more of this pleasant surprise.

why would his songs need to change, and why are you amazed. Are you that shallow?

Don’t know if anyone mentioned this but the sound quality in this is amazing. The sound engineer did a phenomenal job ❤

I saw her perform this live in a club in a small country town in Australia, and the sound was exactly the same. She was AMAZING.

Noticed that too - the video quality was poor (probably intentionally so) and I wasn’t expecting high fidelity.
@cyclone251511 ай бұрын
@@JohnTravena the clip is made of fans recording her performing this song for the first time.. Kasey’s team didn’t have a clip for it, but when they realised how good it was, Kasey got on social media and asked fans to send in the footage they shot on their phones, then pieced together the clip from that. I like it, it gives a personal feel to it.. it’s raw and it works.

@@cyclone2515 Oh, that’s cool! It didn’t bother me cause the audio is great. 👍

@@cyclone2515 No - it wasn't for the 1st time. The debut was at the Wildflower Festival in the Yarra Valley (Victoria) Marsh 2022....then it was the encore song at every show during her Behind the Barricades tour throughout May 2022 - THIS was the 17th & last night of the tour - the song had been so well received - "they" decided to record it as a live track at the mixing desk....after hearing the playback they were kicking themselves for not filming it - THAT'S when Kasey sent out the request to fans for footage.

Kasey Chambers little did I know 30years ago seeing you at the Hume Country Golf Club and not appreciating the rawness of your talent that has now grown into an artist that is truly original and unique. You stand in your own lane the twists and turns that you have endured in your music career has brought you to this Masterpiece. It is truly a piece of Art!! Only to be delivered the way you have as you have lived the story that was written by the original artist. I talk about dynamics alot when I discuss music as that's what connects with me in my journey playing music. The dynamics in this Masterpiece are both vocally and musically overwhelming and it's no wonder that you have received critical acclaim. I was lucky enough to see you and your band perform this piece in Echuca. This Masterpiece is the standard that we as Musicians both professional and amateur should aspire to. If you haven't heard this sit back and enjoy!! Kind Regards Chris Baines

he spoke directly to an angsty preteen who just needed something to believe in. and she's singing directly to an early 30s whose lost all her faith. this song is so powerful it's given me epiphany moments twice in one lifetime.

Holy shit. And with that banshee howl at the end, Kasey leaves her heart on the floor of the Civic Theatre and (judging by these rad comments) has torn ours out to keep it company. Revisiting this clip and it's still one of the.fucking.fiercest performances I've ever seen. The build, the drop, the climb, the desperation and grief and compassion she brings to this song... what a maven. And the band! That wailing screeching slide guitar trading blows with the electric as the entire band goes swamp deep and carries the whole rodeo home. Stellar.
