I've never used wood in my art but I know it's porus and I was thinking maybe it needed to be treated but I'm like - shouldn't the good people from the subscription box mentioned that or supplied the gesso or pretreated the wood or something?? Oof I almost commented that because I personally love wood as much as paper to paint on-I've done watercolour on properly gessoed wood with no issues! It would suck in my eyes if wood panels got ruined for you because palettefull didnt bother to mention it and/or properly supply ya.

Small tip for paint pens! When I first used mine, I think holding down vs mostly pumping gets it flowing quicker if not just as well. Pumping them gets p tiring!!

I know if I paint or prime the wood first it’s much better. I love how you use the water and a color with a brush for some blending and lighten the color.

Usually with any paint pen it’s better to shake the paint to the tip so you don’t accidentally wear it down or break the tip… Believe me… I learnt that the hard way by pushing in the tip, granted it was a cheaper brand but I believe it’s still a possibility for other brands

I remember that these types of pens can also be 'pumped' by keeping them pressed on the paper. Can someone confirm this?

You pump them to get the paint flowing, but I’m not sure you can pump WHILE using them... you gotta press kinda hard. 😅

One time I just kept pressing down as I used it after it had already been filled, because I'm a dumbass, and it flooded out a Posca puddle all over my art. Good times.

I really like this! I probably would try to throw some of the yellow in the background somewhere personally, but I agree it might have looked out of place. Beautiful piece!
