Kashmir to Kanyakumari EV record in the Tata Nexon EV where we set 25 India Book of Records. The K2K drive is a test of a machine’s endurance - putting it through a variety of terrain, altitudes and conditions. We drove nonstop with breaks only for charging, adding to the challenge for both man and machine. In the process we set 25 records. This includes the fastest K2K drive in an electric car! In this video, we take you along on this epic road trip - and show you what it was like to drive 4000km in less than four days in an electric car!

No doubt about TATA NEXON’s performance but I would surely comment on one thing- since this whole trip was monitored by Tata management, getting all charging stations in functional state was possible or else for a normal customer, it was not possible to get all charging stations in functioning state 🙌🏻😂 I can bet on it coz in my locality TATA Charging station is mostly shut down whenever I visit there. I can imagine rest of the scenario 😂

Very nice. But a not so fun fact about EVs in India today - you consumed 600 units of electricity to travel 4000km, thereby emitting roughly 430 kg of CO2 while charging. Same as a petrol car giving 20.5kmpl or diesel car giving 24 kmpl. This will ofcourse progressively get better and more renewable energy is injected into the grid. As the grid gets cleaner, the benefits will become more obvious.

Fact is that lap belts are unsafe and Tata can set examples (like in other areas of safety) by providing proper 3 point seat belts even in the rear middle seat.

An hour plus stop after every 200 kms? Wow.. “Mile-munching” in an EV is a joke. I can easily do 800 kms in one go in my diesel Nexon and refuel in 10 mins and carry on. EVs belong in the city. Not for mile munching on the highway

Hey, this is not a real life scenario. As the crew and set of drivers keep changing. Would be interesting to see when a set of 3 to 4 people take the car all the way and spend a day to two in each major city on the way to go around it. People go out not just to drive but to experience the place. However this is a good example to show durability of car and to show that nothing would go wrong on that long trip that uses only fast charging.

I have been a big supporter of EVs and always promoted it. I had predicted 2yrs back that EVs would dominated scooter segment in another 5yrs. Well ola and ather is already making this happen. There is no way people in India could refuse to switch to EV vehicles for city commuting, had it not been false propaganda by the IC favouring lobby. Toyota is one among the most anti EV company in 4 wheel segment and they have a reason to do so. Indian ic manufacturers other than tata, are not very keen in developing EVs as it will be a loss for them in long run, as EVs don't need servicing, oil change, much parts replacement and technology is very simple, but advanced. Hattsoff to you guys for proving EVs can be used for long distance drive. Looking at India's speed in adopting technology, I feel the country which I am staying is lagging behind. We are thriving to see electric vehicles on our roads, but here, this country is yet to catch up on the race. Tesla has now changed the way people are looking at EV. India should introduce EV Nexon outside India also, so that we also have option to own it.

20 fast chargers ? is there not a need to do slow charging? Some Tata service advisors recommend slow charging after 4 fast charging. Any idea is this is a myth?. In the video the Tata motors official says they didnt have to stop for slow charging at all. This is a bit confusing. As i am planning a 1600KM trip from Mumbai to Kerala with 10-12 charging cycles. I have been adviced to do a slow charging after 4 fast charges. Any response could help.

Hi @sirish chandra and team, it’s a good and forecasting effort for the people who are on the borderline from natural fuel to electric. Would you be able to agree that considering the half of the journey is almost in the so called south India and where the private charging stations are more compared to the upper level? And what what the back up plan for the service and maintenance for an EV car if it could have been broke down at highway which is far from the service station. I think that is one of other concern for the normal people apart from the drive range. Applauses to the whole team for the effort..❤ TATA..❤

The number of charging stations in the country is only going up. Not just that, there are mobile charging stations too, like featured in the video. In terms of a breakdown, it's the same as with any ICE. You either tow it or flat bed it to the nearest authorised service centre.
