I have visited Leh this summer in July, a marvellous city and as you mentioned very clean also. Your historical account made my memories of Ladakh trip more beautiful. The most beautiful building in the town of Leh was the new wooden mosque. I was introduced in a stationary shop, located in the lane next to the mosque, with the wife of the Imam sahib of the mosque, a very polite, burqa-clad woman who runs the shop.

No power in this world can separate Jammu and Kashmir . The word Jammu and Kashmir is used millions of times now , it is very costly to separate these two and it will harm economy of kashmir. Jammu region is nevertheless very bigger than Kashmir valley. How can a 15000 square km land survive in upper himalayas without any access to sub continent.
