Use a small amount of petroleum jelly on your forehead by drawing a thin continuous line just above eye brow line and out and down below eye. The sweat will be repelled by the jelly and drip out and down onto your cheek.

Weirdly enough, I had the opposite problem with sweat between the protone and the valegro. The big pad in the protone soaks up sweat, which then drips down right into my glasses.. While I don't have that issue at all with the valegro.

That is very interesting. Do you ride in an extremely humid climate or is it somewhat dry? Here it is so humid that really neither is great at it honestly. Just found the lack of a pad cause it to pour into my eyes, while the Protone, I could grab it and squeeze it against my head with my head tilted down so it wouldn't get in my eyes as much. I guess the Protone I could chose when I wanted to pour it out. Thanks for the input though because some may have your experience.

@@BlackWaterCyclist I'm in Scotland, so it's usually moderately humid, but not that hot. So perhaps the ventilation of the valegro is enough for the sweat to evaporate more before it builds up? And the residual sweat is just a gradual, constant low-level thing I don't notice much. With the protone, the pad would suddenly dump sweat onto the inside of my glasses once it reached a certain saturation point.. So maybe it's a complex issue! If the climate isn't too hot then maybe the increased ventilation of the valegro results in a sweat evaporation rate that's enough to manage the constant level of sweat production, whereas in a hotter climate that's not going to work.. Also, for me it was more the dumping of the sweat onto the inside of the glasses that was the issue rather than sweat getting in my eyes.

@@BlackWaterCyclist Big news! I just bought my second Valegro (that's why I was watching your video). And it's different - they're now added a removable, small front pad at the front that goes into that little gap. It blocks the tiny lowest vents, but it's removable so you can choose to fit it depending on the conditons. And after a first ride (with the pad fitted), I can say that it doesn't dump sweat on my glasses nearly as badly as the big Protone pad does. So it's the best of both worlds! Interestingly (and unlike the Protone pad) it seems to be a sort of dual density thing, so I wonder if that's the reason it works better for me.

@@neil7769 Sorry for the delay buddy. I had the stomach bug the last 48 hours and it was not pretty. I have been to Scotland back in 2019 in July and it was like air conditioning for me :). Here in FL in July/August we see temperatures as high as 38 degree C, and our lows are around 26 degree C so much warmer than Scotland. We also have some intense humidity here so I can definitely see the differences in our experiences with the same helmet. I agree with you on the sweat evaporating. If it is dry enough conditions, then the lack of a pad is amazing but not in very humid conditions.

@@neil7769 That is super exciting to hear! If I run across another I may have to get it for an updated review. I have heard some great things about the Bell Z20 and the Giro Helios which has an extended pad section designed to absorb sweat and all the reviewers love it.

I would say this helmet and the s-works prevail 2 vent are my favorite summer/hot weather helmet. But I would have to give the edge to the prevail 2 vent because it is lighter and I feel a little more ventilated.

I am actually looking to get one of those to test. They look great and definitely look like they are a great summer helmet. Have you tried a Poc Ventral Air?

I really like the helmet for ventilation and being able to see in a aero position. I have tried Aether and but imo it's not even close if you run hot A close 2nd is the Z20, again imo.
@BlackWaterCyclist
@BlackWaterCyclist 4 жыл бұрын
That is very interesting. I also was unable to do back to back test in the same weather conditions so that is probably the fallacy of my comparison there. My main complaint was the lack of a brow pad to keep sweat out of my eyes. I have thought about trying the Bell Z20, what do you think about it?

@@BlackWaterCyclist The look is a bit outdated but it's a great balance of aero safety and ventilation. They did add a removable brow pad to the "updated" Valegro.

You should find the pads for the front part in the box (you should find 2 pads) That pad will avoid the sweat coming down into your eyes my friend.
@BlackWaterCyclist

Yes you are exactly right. I actually did not see them until later. I should try to do an updated review with them. I am currently testing a POC Ventral Air and it is probably my favorite summer helmet right now. I will have a review out soon but I may try to do a Summer helmet showdown between the Valegro, Ventral, Aether, and Prevail.

Thanks Adam! You can find some great deals on a size small online so I would definitely try to go for a small if I were you. My head is 57cm so the medium is a no brainer for me. I haven't had the chance to mess with a small so not sure how it fits but if you are truly a 56cm, go small.
