I remember we used to use the term "EDM" to describe the entire of umbrella of dance oriented electronic music whether it was dnb, dubstep, house, techno, trance, electro etc. it was used to describe festivals where all of these genres of dance music were on display. this was around 2005-2010. I never thought it would become its own shitty genre.

Joshua Holton Erm, EDM is still used as an umbrella term, which is a genre that describes other genres (sub genre) for example, Rock. The sub genres under that would be Rock'n roll, metal, etc. EDM was also known as Techno in the past.

That was my first EDC ever and I went mainly to see mau5 and Kaskade.. it was unreal. I've been to every EDC since and seen them both more times than I can count now.
