i can only immagine the amount of time lost to recover all your stuff after the phising attack(hope chatgpt wasn't used to write the emails),i use the windows sandbox regulary for opening suspicious files and virus total for checking links,one could also install an edr solution like Xcitium (opensource) but at the end we are humans and anyone can make a mistake eventualy,.Kudos to DB Tech for sharing his experience, it takes courage for that.

Thanks!! It really was me just not being careful enough. And they were REALLY careful to make sure they covered their bases and made themselves LOOK as legit as they could. But I feel like some of this could have been avoided if I had "show file extensions" enabled. Live and learn. Then make content about it :)

Sorry to hear you got hacked. And your timing is perfect with making this video. I was just doing research on how to build a custom image. I'm currently running Kasm in my Contabo VPS (a German provider). I have all the default browsers things. It was even Umbutu but I can't install anything in it. I can't even get sudo. I hope you cover that in your video. When I looked online they directed me to get lab for custom image that Kasm supports.

Why do you need to run terminal on a Kasm image ?

So, sudo isn't available in the Kasm workspaces. There are tutorials available that show how to build your own custom workspaces, though. Not mine, but there are some of them out there.

@@DBTechYT Yeah, like I said your timing is perfect because this is what I'm researching just now. And I was following a Kasm tutorial and they talked about forking a GitLab project. And I'm not too proficient with GitLab. I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks. It was so that they could get my Facebook account and use it to run ads for their crap products. Since I didn't have any of my own payment methods attached to my account, they added payment methods and ran ads. Took me a month to be able to remove them from my ads dashboard despite reporting the fraud.
