This is quite ingenious, adding your own bridge rectifier while leaving the old one to regulate the voltage. You could even still use the original 12V output at the same time.
@sleepwalkerbg14 жыл бұрын
Hi Kasyan. Excellent an creative idea but here are some suggestions. Adding capacitor after FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER ( ;) ) is not good idea in hard switch topology because of inrush current. You are endangering primary switches (transistors) and you also lowering life expectancy of that capacitor in rectifier. You should add a storage inductor that acts as a passive buck regulator and attenuates output electrolytic capacitor's inrush current. Best regards.

If we don't need 12v or 5v can we remove those factory diodes and toroidals and capacitors in secondary side?
@Brokendiode5 жыл бұрын
No, these power supply's operat in a deferent way than you might think, not all of the voltages are well regulated, these are switching power supply's that regulate the 5 volt supply by providing a sample to the PWM regulator that drives the high voltage mosfets that drives the main step down transformer. This means that the 5 volts is highly regulated and the rest will very a little with there own load but may increase slightly as the 5 volts is loaded down. Without the 5 volts the output will just run wide open, and very with line voltage, and with load on any remaining outputs, that's why some of these power supply's have to have a load, or load resistor, applied to the 5 volt supply to work properly, otherwise the filter capacitor, will with no load satisfie the feedback loop and let the regulator cut back to an idle, causing the other loaded outputs to sag or drop out altogether.

also when you connect positive and negative 12v together they will already have the bridge rectifier if you connect them after their factory diodes before the inductors you will still get 24v .

Please share a picture of that beast !! There should be quite a few secondary taps on the transformer so you should be able to find an appropriate voltage to suit your needs. I'm really surprised to see that much voltage and current for a power supply but I guess there's always a first time for everything.

Please make a video on variable dual power supply with output short circuit protection , it's more necessary then single power supply . thanks. Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩📶📻 👍.
@hennochoi5 жыл бұрын
As long as the ground and the negative lead of the power supply aren't connected the output is floating which means you can connect 2 power supplies to have a variable power supply with negative and positive voltage the only issue is if you want to keep the 2 voltages the same without manually adjust them but that can be fixed pretty easily (check tracking double power supply)

You can't really control the current. The current can only be measured and limited. The element/load decides the current it will conduct at its given state.

How you maintained the short circuit protection?
@Basement-Science6 жыл бұрын
if short protection is on the primary side, it will work. I assume that´s where it is normally done? Otherwise you would have to monitor every output rail separately. Edit: Actually, it shouldn´t matter where the short circuit monitoring is, since the transformer cannot generate any voltage anymore if one of the rails is shorted somehow.

That would pretty much explain why some people, like me, have so much difficulty to understand hindi speaking people when they put their english "ponaunsment" skills to practice ! Seriously, english is an international language, much more than Hindi, so if someone wants to reach a large pool of people with their video clip, doing it in english will most likely be the way to go. Which component values did you miss ? Beside the HER505 diodes, the 2200uF 50V capacitor, the 10K and 100K potentiometers, there isn't much shown here. Don't forget to look in the description too as there are quite a few links that might be of interest too.
