I also got one of those in my backpack, since Years. For those who think 20 ounzes are much: take a 1Qt bottle of water (2lbs) in one hand and the filter pack (20oz) in the other hand. Then imagine 13000 gallons of water - and then I imagine they weigh just 20 ounzes. 😀 Remember: Access to safe drinking water is fundamental! If the 2nd best product weighs a few ounzes less, go for the best and most reliable product.

I've had mine for just over 10 years. Never had any problems. If something something seems sketchy, I'll drop a purification tablet into the filtered water. Never been sick, yet.

Thank you for the vid. You have given me more confidence 😊. Did your filter have a red tested pen writing stamp mark on the actual filter inside? There was also red on the metal where I think the ink splashed. I would of thought they were not meant to print ink where the water is filtered??? 😕 Also, upon using yours, have you found the carbon filter is worth the buy? Im not sure if I will bother. Thanks 😁

Yes, for additional protection you'd boil water. Do you know filters which filter viruses?

The General Ecology 322200 First Need XLE Elite Water Filter does filter virus and is a much better filter. The carbon is built into the unit. The only con to the General Ecology 322200 First Need XLE Elite Water Filter is it does not do as many gallons as the Katadyn. If SHTF the katadyn will last longer for filtering water but it does not do virus's I use the General Ecology 322200 First Need XLE Elite Water Filter myself and prefer it. Its also heavy
