Just want to thank you very much for making these videos. I learnt a lot from it. Am also a Tanto maker. Blessings.

That is insane! I make tantos as well (much worse ones), and was looking to see if the fuchi and koiguchi were both buffalo horn in an aikuchi koshirae. I found this by accident really, but damn what a find. You really are one of the best craftsman i’ve seen.

making one at the moment, this helps a lot thanks.
I'd rather just forge blades. And he made tsuba. But there are not many koshiraeshi , habakishi and togishi available here. That's why I had to learn everything. But the quality of the work of specialized craftsmen is much higher. But also the price, of course.

Wonderful work. Congratulations. I am a manufacturer of Japanese-style swords, Brazilian... Please, do you have a video, or could you explain to me how to fix the menuki? In the same tantõ koshirae style. Thank you.
@katanamaking26062 ай бұрын
There is a pin on the bottom of the menuki. A hole for the pin is made in the samegawa and the menuki is glued.

@@katanamaking2606 I am currently working on a commission for a very similar tantõ, 16th century style, with kozuka. Samegawa-zutsumi no tsuka/saya. My thanks and congratulations again for the reference video of a beautiful work.

May I ask why you don’t make the habaki first?
@katanamaking26065 ай бұрын
I usually make the most basic tsuka. Before the glue dries, habaki. Other dimensions develop from habaki. (tsuka, saya) When I finish the habaki, the tsuka gluing is dry and I can continue working without a break.

What material did you use for the kashira and kurigata? I’m a bladesmith in training and I’m trying to figure out what materials are good for what.

Hello Pavel! Please tell me what tool did you use to finish the habaki? Could you make a video master class on different habaki finishes? Thank you

It's a gouge file. It has gears in rows behind it. I'm probably good at making blades. I can handle Koshiorae and its components at an amateur level. I don't know whether to make a video on this topic. Maybe someone better. Like Ford Hallam ?
