I love how you slowly pronounce the words slowly, it's the only way I can grasp them. Very helpful for beginners! Can you make a video with words for items you would find in your closet such as: pants, shirt, socks, jacket.. etc. ! :)

0.20 'hintahaarukka' translates as 'price range'. 0.37 'ottaa lusikka kauniiseen käteen' translates as 'to do as one is told'.

Hei Katya! Hello from Brazil! I just wanted to leave you a general comment on your videos. Thanks for taking the time to make them. I have watched a handful of them already and got very impressed at how easy you seem to make it for us to learn new words. When I was your (approximate) age, I tried to learn Finnish by exchanging letters with a Finn pen pal, but I admit I got scared at the linguistic distance between it and anything I knew. Then after so many years, here I am again. I especially like the way you insistently mark the pronunciation of new words, repeating them several times very slowly and with different intonations. I cannot help repeating after you. That makes hell of a difference when you are a foreigner and want to grasp the native way to pronounce. So, congrats on your nice and friendly initiative to spread knowledge about your culture and keep up this great work. Maybe you should become a Finnish language teacher and help people learn even more. You seem to be great at it. Cheers, Doug

Very late to the party comment here :). Useful content as ever, Kat :bows:. Just a little linguistic clarification on the English side of the street - cutlery is one of those oddities in the language in that it is a group noun for eating utensils I.e. it has no singular form and is implicitly plural.

Hello from the Basque Country. I was wondering what kind of books, movies, tv etc you have translated into Finnish . For example do you have lets say Japanese cartoons with Finnish subtitles? Do Finnish people usually read foreign novels translated or the original? Video games?
@KatChatsFinnish
@KatChatsFinnish 6 жыл бұрын
+oski bila All the popular novels usually get a Finnish translation. The kids shows are dubbed over but the movies for older audiences have subtitles as does tv shows. Cartoons I think would for the most part be dubbed unless someone online has done subtitle work xD
